Product Manager
We're hiring a Product Manager to help us build the future of automated document workflows at Heron. You'll own a product vertical end-to-end - from customer discovery to shipping features that eliminate hours of manual work for our customers every day. If you love talking to customers, shipping fast, and working at the intersection of AI and financial services, we'd love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
Every day, thousands of small businesses apply for funding. A broker emails over a stack of bank statements, tax returns, and application forms - sometimes scanned, screenshotted or photographed on someone's phone. A team of underwriters then spends hours doing the same manual review, over and over, all day, out of a shared inbox. If they're slow, they lose the deal to a competitor.
Heron automates that manual work. We read the emails, classify the documents, extract and enrich the data, run evaluation rules, and push decision-ready output straight into the customer's CRM - in minutes, not hours. 150+ funders, brokers, fintechs and insurers use us in production today. We're growing fast, with customers pulling us into new problems and verticals faster than we can staff them.
We're hiring a Product Manager to take ownership of one of our core verticals. You'll talk to customers, define what to build, ship it with engineering, and measure whether it's working. You'll have real influence over the roadmap and the autonomy to make calls. This is a hands-on IC role - no layers between you and the problem.
What You'll Do
-
Own a product vertical end-to-end: Run discovery, write specs, prioritize the backlog, and work with engineering to ship improvements that customers love
-
Be the voice of the customer: Build deep relationships with customers in your vertical, run regular feedback sessions, and translate their pain points into product opportunities
-
Ship and iterate: Move fast, measure impact, and iterate. We care about outcomes, not output - a shipped feature that moves a metric beats a perfect spec that sits in a backlog
-
Set product strategy: Build and present a clear product strategy grounded in customer data, competitive insight, and business impact
-
Collaborate across the company: Work closely with engineering, deployment, sales, and customer success to make sure what we build lands well
What We're Looking For
- 2-4 years of experience in product management at a B2B SaaS company, or 2-3 years in a commercial generalist role before transitioning into tech or product
- You've shipped software products and can point to specific outcomes you drove
- You're comfortable with technical concepts - you can discuss APIs, data pipelines, and system architecture with engineers
- You're a structured thinker who can take ambiguous problems and break them into clear, actionable product decisions
- You have strong customer instincts, and you'd generally rather spend an hour with a customer than an hour in a planning meeting
Above all else, we value people who want to make an impact in their work. Here are some of the behaviors that we expect of all Herons:
-
Scrappy and creative: when faced with an obstacle, you will either overcome it by pure determination (i.e., by hand), or find an unconventional approach or ‘hack’ to navigate it.
-
Persistent: you may not always find the right answer or person immediately, but you're motivated to keep on trying until you do so. You’ll go the extra mile - including Flying to Gainesville - if that’s what it takes.
-
Pilot not passenger: at a fast-growing company like Heron we need people who jump on opportunities unprompted and drive them to a great outcome, rather than folks who wait to be told what to do.
-
Excited to work in a fast-paced, high-growth, team-based environment: we aim to move quickly and decisively, but together. You’ll be a great team player and do what it takes for the team to succeed.
