We are Heron Data, a Series A stage company based in New York and London.

  • At Heron, we use the latest advances in AI and LLMs to automate document processing. Our software handles emails, analyzes attachments, and takes actions like updating CRMs or requesting more info to execute workflows end-to-end for our customers. We serve a range of businesses including some of the world's largest fintechs, banks and other specialty finance companies, commercial insurers, and more.
  • Our largest product automates underwriting for small business lenders and other specialty finance companies. We eliminate cumbersome manual processes and enable our customers to provide their services with much greater speed, precision, and fairness.
  • We are a rapidly growing company with over 150 customers in financial services and beyond who trust us to be embedded in critical processes - without us, their businesses stop. We analyze tens of thousands of documents a day, including over 20 million individual bank transactions daily for our customers. We continue to grow into more segments and workflows: further into lending, banking, insurance. And we think there's much more we can do!

About the role

Growth Marketer

We’re hiring a Growth Marketer to help us accelerate Heron’s growth by owning demand generation across the business. If you love creating content, experimenting with growth tactics, iterating quickly, and building systems that generate real pipeline, we’d love to hear from you!

The Opportunity

We’re looking for someone who wants to be hands-on across the full growth stack: running paid campaigns, improving our website, distributing content, amplifying founder-led marketing, and building the analytics to know what’s working.

From day one, you’ll own our key demand-generation channels and quickly begin scaling them. You might do this by spending time with our customers, launching experiments, doing some analysis on what works and helping us build a ‘machine’ that predictably generates leads. You’ll work closely with the founders and sales team, shaping how Heron finds and converts demand. If something is unclear, missing, or could work better, you’ll have the autonomy to fix it and the support to move quickly.

Longer-term, depending on your interests, this role could grow into broader ownership of growth, or other sales-adjacent projects. Or - if you’re excited about building a modern marketing engine at a fast-growing company, this is your ticket!

What You’ll Do

This is a hands-on role focused on driving measurable growth. Examples of what you might do:

  • Take ownership of our content strategy and generation, including case studies, product launches, technical blogs.
  • Support revenue teams with assets: one-pagers, decks, ad creative, conference materials, and anything else needed to help close deals.
  • Launch paid media experiments across trade newsletters, LinkedIn, Google, Meta - testing creatives, audiences, and landing pages.
  • Improve our website and digital presence: refine messaging, run A/B tests, and ensure we’re attracting and converting the right traffic.
  • Run fast, lightweight experiments to identify new growth levers: content distribution, newsletters, SEO tests, partnerships, and more.
  • Build the engine: track performance, set up dashboards, analyze cost per lead, and identify where our highest-quality leads come from.
  • Over time, help us establish a predictable and automated marketing cadence: scheduled social posts, consistent reporting, and always up-to-date assets.

What We’re Looking For

Our ideal hire will be:

  • Execution-focused: You’re happiest when you’re ‘doing’.
  • 1–2 years of B2B SaaS marketing experience: Ideally at a Series A/B startup where you’ve run ads, built campaigns, used data to make decisions, and contributed directly to lead generation.
  • Comfortable with ambiguity: You don’t wait for perfect conditions; you prototype, test, measure, and learn fast.
  • A strong written communicator: You can craft compelling ad copy, engaging social posts, clear experiment summaries, and concise insights.
  • Creatively scrappy: You find clever ways to get signal quickly, even on limited budgets, and you’re resourceful with tools and assets.
  • Analytically sharp: You know how to set up tracking, interpret data, spot trends, and translate insights into action.
  • Collaborative and low-ego: You work smoothly with founders, sales, and design, and you’re excited to support the broader go-to-market effort.
  • Bonus: Experience creating visuals or lightweight design assets to support campaigns.

Technology
  • For Frontend -- our customer dashboard is built with NextJS, using MUI, React, and TypeScript. We deploy our frontend apps on Vercel
  • For Backend -- our backend applications are primarily written in Python using the Flask or FastAPI frameworks. We also use celery for async task processing. We have both a main monolith and also microservices. We containerize & deploy these applications on Kubernetes clusters or on managed compute (serverless)
  • For ML — we have a variety of classification & prediction tasks that we deploy different models for, ranging from classic ML models / NLP techniques to fine-tuned LLMs
  • For infrastructure — we use both GCP and AWS for different components. Some of our main components include Postgres database, Redis and RabbitMQ. All of our code repositories live in GitHub and we use GitHub actions extensively for CI/CD

  • Take-home challenge - a task which roughly represents the work we would expect from you
