Qualifications

Minimum qualifications

  • 5-7 years experience with Typescript, Python, and React.
  • Proven experience developing at least one project using generative AI technologies.
  • Interest and ability to develop applications of generative AI.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or equivalent.
  • Previous experience architecting and implementing complex systems across the stack, e.g. payments infrastructure, robust processing workflows, realtime applications, etc.
  • Knowledge about industry best practices around devops, gitops, testing, and code quality.

Informal Phone Call

  • This is a chance for you to find out about the role and evaluate whether it's for you.
  • We are looking for people with a strong interest high quality; beautifully designed research and information management tools such as Notion and Mem.ai

2. What has your past experience been?

  • Do you have relevant experience building high quality bug free products?
  • Are you interested in working on a tool at the intersection between language AI and productivity?
  • Are you looking for a strong sense of ownership and autonomy?
  • Have you worked in a small fast moving team within a company or startup?

Technical Screen

  • This will be a first pass to assess basic skills and determine whether to progress to a more in depth interview.

The Interview

  • The interview consists of 5 parts.
  • We may choose to short circuit decision making to hire / not hire a given candidate after any of the stages below.

Team Fit (Non-coding)

  • This is a personality interview and will aim to understand more about your past experiences and how you work in small teams.

Debugging Task (Coding Task)

  • All engineers at Genei will be working at some point with existing codebases.
  • In this task we will give you some code to debug and fix.
  • We are interested in hearing you talk through your process and thinking as you do this.

Whiteboard Task (Coding Task)

  • This will involve working on and talking us through the solution to a coding problem followed by a discussion around the pros and cons of your implemented solution.

System Design Task (Non-coding)

  • We are looking to understand your ability to design and build systems using appropriate technologies.
  • During this we will ask you to propose and talk through the design of a system e.g. "How would you build reddit?"

Product Thinking Task (Non-coding)

  • We also look for engineers with interpretive skills when it comes to implementation of features.
  • In this task we will discuss how you would build a feature we have already built.
  • We will expect you to talk through your design decisions.

Feedback

  • We will aim to get back to you in 3-4 weeks with a decision and feedback
  • The exact time to complete the process will depend on availability of the founders
