Surface Labs is an applied AI lab building the Lead Operations Center for B2B marketing teams.

Backed by Y Combinator, Garry Tan, Dharmesh Shah (co-founder of HubSpot), and the CEO of AngelList — our AI agents have helped drive $40M+ in inbound pipeline for customers and process 50K+ leads monthly.

We unify lead capture, qualification, routing, follow-ups, and nurture — so marketers spend 80% less time on manual ops and more time converting leads into revenue. In the last 3 months, we just grew from 5 → 10 people across Engineering, Design, and are now bringing on an SDR to scale our outbound motion.


The Role

You'll work directly with the CEO to run outbound experiments and open doors at the right companies. High ownership, real GTM exposure, quota-carrying role. If you’re killing it, you will be on track for Founding AE role.

What You’ll Do

  • Run outbound across cold calls, LinkedIn, email, and in-person (SF events + occasional travel)
  • Own the full pipeline: targeting → messaging → scheduling → follow-up
  • Maintain CRM hygiene and hit monthly meeting quotas

You’re a Fit If You…

  • 1–3 years in sales, GTM, or customer-facing roles (or strong hustle background)
  • You've done the unglamorous work: built prospect lists from scratch, sat down and ground out cold calls and emails for a full day, and done it again the next day
  • Comfortable with outbound and rejection
  • Used prospecting tools like Clay, Sales Navigator, or Apollo
  • Someone who’s relentless, high-energy, and always looking to keep growing

Nice To Have

  • Experience pitching B2B SaaS or GTM tech tools (HubSpot, Salesforce, marketing automation, etc.)
  • Technical interest or experience (vibe coding, Claude Code, etc)
  • Willing to find ways to automate your job using AI automations/ code


Comp

  • Base: $60K–$80K
  • OTE: $90K–$110K (base + commission with accelerators)
  • Equity: 0.05%–0.2% (4-year vest, 1-year cliff)

Technology

Our primary application stack is built using NodeJS, Typescript, ReactJS, and PostgreSQL.

Additionally, we solve interesting problems around edge computing, building identity graphs for bespoke data enrichment infra, customer data analytics & compliance, UI experimentation, and bot detection.

  3. Outbound Simulation (45 min) — Live exercise: research a target account and pitch your approach. Ideally in-person in at our San Francisco office.
  4. Final Conversation (30 min) — Culture fit, comp, and questions
