About Overview

Overview is a company that takes the cutting edge in computer vision and deep learning and applies it to previously unsolvable manufacturing inspection problems. We are truly a full stack company. We install physical cameras into the facility, run inference on the edge and manage massive deployments. Overview also streams gigabytes of video/image data to the cloud for our web platform to give customers advanced insights and analytics.

We are looking for engineers who like to solve tough challenges across the stack. This might include wrangling 500mb images or deploying optimized models in one click that can handle 10 parts a second. We are looking for people who are dynamic, who are excited to work on a different challenge every week, whether it's the final inspection on a medical device or making sure a razor blade has a perfect edge.

About the role

About Overview.ai

Automation is a defining priority for manufacturers today. Automating quality inspection is one of the highest-impact ways this is happening—it directly affects yield, scrap rates, throughput, and whether production survives.

Vision systems have been around for decades, but traditional competitors don't do true AI well. Their systems are rigid, require extensive programming, and struggle with the complexity of modern manufacturing.

That's changing now. Overview's edge-enabled AI vision devices handle assembly verification, defect detection, and orientation checks with accuracy that wasn't possible before. They integrate into existing lines at production speed. Customers see results on day one: higher yield, lower scrap, fewer escapes, faster throughput.

But this technology is new. The old rules don't apply. We need incredibly talented people to figure out how AI vision scales across facilities and saves billions while reshaping how factories operate. Once it's trusted, it becomes foundational infrastructure.

We're trusted by companies like Ford, Honda, Toyota, SpaceX, and Milliken. Our systems are built for real factory conditions—deterministic, edge-first, and deployable at scale. The people who define how this gets done will shape the next decade of American manufacturing.

About the Role

We're building the foundation of our field team and need someone who can help manufacturers save millions in labor and quality costs by deploying AI vision systems that actually work in production. You'll get an inside look into the secret world of manufacturing—working directly with engineers at the world's largest manufacturers to realize the potential of AI cameras.

This is a field-first role based in the Atlanta/Southeast region (covering Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina). You'll spend 60-80% of your time on factory floors across the Southeast, finding projects where AI inspection can have real impact, running technical evaluations, and making sure deployments succeed in live production environments. You'll learn how to make AI cameras work well—and just as importantly, which projects are likely impossible.

This role sits at the intersection of technical depth, customer relationships, and commercial impact. You'll operate with high autonomy—no scripts, no hand-holding. You'll be trusted to ask the right questions, diagnose problems in messy conditions, make field judgment calls, and move projects forward even when information is incomplete. With support from Overview engineers, you'll become the technical expert customers rely on.

We can teach you manufacturing, machine vision, and our technology. What we need you to show up with is the ability to operate independently, build trust in high-stakes conversations, learn fast through hands-on exposure, and own outcomes without excuses. It's going to be hard work.

This role is for someone who:

  • Has already proven they can operate at a high level in professional or demanding environments (2+ years)

  • Is curious, hard-working, and hungry to grow faster than they thought possible

  • Thrives in real-world conditions—factory floors, tight timelines, ambiguity, and pressure

  • Sees 60-80% travel as an opportunity to build expertise and customer relationships, not a burden

  • Wants to be exceptionally great at something that matters

If you've been the person others come to when things need to get done, if you learn by doing, and if you want ownership over real outcomes—this role is built for you.

Why This Role Is Exciting

You're entering manufacturing AI at the perfect moment
Guide customers through their first real AI wins with technology that delivers measurable results on day one—higher yield, lower scrap, fewer escapes. This isn't experimental; it's production-critical infrastructure customers depend on for real decisions.

Work with the world's best solving real problems
Deploy AI vision systems at Ford, Honda, Toyota, SpaceX, and Milliken. Your work directly impacts yield, scrap, throughput, and quality across automotive, aerospace, electronics, and advanced materials—no two deployments look the same.

Own deeply technical, hands-on work—not just slides
You're on the factory floor tuning cameras, lighting, optics, and AI models. This role operates at the intersection of hardware, software, and manufacturing. Customers rely on these systems for production decisions, not pilots.

Sell a product customers genuinely love
Overview systems are known for accuracy, ease of use, and deployability. Conversations are technical, collaborative, and grounded in outcomes. You benefit from strong inbound interest and urgency driven by competitive pressure.

Shape what we build next & grow fast
Your factory floor insights directly influence product development. This is a foundational role with clear paths to expand technical depth, customer ownership, or leadership. You'll be rewarded for solving hard problems and driving impact, not just closing deals.

What You'll Do

Own customer success end-to-end: First conversation through production deployment—technical discovery, live demos, onsite evaluations, troubleshooting on the factory floor, and driving opportunities toward scaled deployments (not just pilots).

Who You Are

You've already proven you can operate (2+ years):

  • Customer-facing technical roles, high-intensity environments (SpaceX, Tesla, top startups, commissioning), or track record of excellence (promoted quickly, top performer)

You have:

  • Engineering background and learn by doing

  • Strong communication across all levels

  • Genuine excitement about 60-80% travel

Location: Based within the Atlanta/Southeast region (Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina) or willing to relocate

This role is NOT for you if: You want a highly structured environment, minimal travel, or 9-5 stability.

You don't need: Manufacturing experience, machine vision expertise, or a "perfect" resume.
You do need: Proof you can operate independently, learn fast, and build trust in high-stakes situations.

What We Offer

  • Strong base compensation in the range of $75k–$120k, depending on experience and scope

  • Uncapped performance-based variable compensation, with typical annual bonus ranges of $25k–$80k and additional upside for high performers who drive larger deployments and scaled wins

  • Medical insurance to keep you covered

  • Relocation support for candidates moving closer to their territory

  • 401(k) benefits available

  • All-expenses-paid trips to industry events and company gatherings, plus access to our San Francisco office

  • Flexible work setup—this is a field-first role with remote flexibility when not onsite

  • Three weeks of paid time off to recharge

  • Clear opportunities for growth as the company scales, with room to expand technical depth, customer ownership, and commercial responsibility

  • A supportive, high-trust environment that values ownership, execution, and real customer impact

Technology

Overview's tech is far reaching. We deploy highly reliable camera hardware and GPU's into manufacturing and industrial settings. We have an IoT fleet management stack to update, secure, and manage our fleet of devices. We stream this data to our cloud or to a customers hybrid cloud where we have a user facing platform where customers can interact with their devices, deploy new deep learning models, and see advanced analytics.

We use Docker to deploy web infrastructure and deep learning models. We have an extensive deep learning stack using Tensorflow, PyTorch and packaged with Onnx. Our frontend is in React, which is updated in real time from our fleet using MQTT. And the list goes on...
