About GrowthBook

At GrowthBook, we are building an open source feature flagging and A/B testing platform. If you love the data and engineering challenges faced by large tech companies, but want the ownership and flexibility of a small startup, then GrowthBook is for you.

We are a small team, distributed across the US, and backed by YCombinator and Khosla Ventures. We’re helping companies release code quickly and confidently while measuring the impact of what they launch.

As an open source company, we are focused on bottom-up adoption and building a product that engineers love to use. We have an amazing open source community on Slack that gives us constant feedback, feature requests, and ideas. GrowthBook is already used in production by thousands of companies and we’re just getting started!

About the role

About Us

We’re a Series A SaaS company transforming how teams use data and AI to make smarter decisions. With thousands of free users and accelerating enterprise interest, we’re scaling quickly — and ready to invest in senior marketing leadership that can turn traction into sustained growth.

As one of our first senior marketing hires, you’ll own the strategy, systems, and execution that drive awareness, pipeline, and revenue. You’ll combine creative storytelling with data-driven precision to build a modern, AI-powered demand engine that connects open source growth with enterprise expansion.

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Director of Demand Generation & Digital Marketing who can both lead strategy and roll up their sleeves. You’ll architect integrated marketing programs that build awareness, convert free users to subscribers, and generate qualified enterprise pipeline. You’ll manage agency partners, own the digital ecosystem, and pioneer next-generation tactics like Answer Engine Optimization and AI-driven personalization.

What You’ll Do

1. Lead the Growth and Pipeline Strategy

  • Design and execute the integrated marketing plan spanning SEO, paid, content, social, lifecycle, and community programs.
  • Develop the roadmap and budget to hit awareness, conversion, and pipeline targets across self-serve and enterprise motions.
  • Own marketing performance reporting, pipeline attribution, and channel optimization.
  • Scale what works — build repeatable playbooks that can later support a growing team.

2. Own Digital Marketing and Website Performance

  • Lead the website strategy and optimization — from content and UX to conversion flow and experimentation.
  • Drive SEO / AEO visibility across traditional and generative-AI search surfaces.
  • Manage digital platforms (CMS, analytics, marketing automation, experimentation tools).
  • Partner with design and product teams to ensure the site reflects brand, product, and conversion goals.

3. Manage Agencies and Budget

  • Own the paid media and ad-agency budget .
  • Direct all external vendors — SEO, performance marketing, creative, content syndication — for accountability and measurable ROI.
  • Reallocate spend dynamically based on performance data and strategic priorities.

4. Build Content and Lifecycle Programs

  • Partner with Product Marketing and CMO to develop narratives that differentiate and convert.
  • Lead the creation of guides, webinars, videos, and thought-leadership content aligned to buyer journeys.
  • Deploy marketing automation, personalization, and AI content generation to increase speed and relevance.

5. Cross-Functional Leadership

  • Collaborate with Sales and Product to align messaging, campaigns, and funnel analytics.
  • Establish KPIs, dashboards, and quarterly growth OKRs.
  • Mentor future team members and contractors to develop an agile, data-driven marketing culture.

Who You Are

  • 5+ years in B2B SaaS demand generation, growth, or digital marketing — ideally in a PLG + enterprise hybrid model.
  • Proven record of scaling awareness and pipeline from Series A through Series C stages.
  • Expertise in SEO, SEM, paid social, CRO, lifecycle automation, and analytics.
  • Experienced managing marketing budgets and multiple agency relationships.
  • Fluent in AI marketing tools (automation, personalization, content generation, experimentation).
  • Comfortable balancing strategic leadership with hands-on execution.
  • Exceptional communicator who can align execs, data, and creative to drive measurable outcomes.

Why Join Us

You’ll be the architect of a high-leverage demand engine that defines how we scale. This is a rare opportunity to shape the brand, the budget, and the growth strategy of a fast-rising SaaS company. You’ll work directly with the CMO and leadership team to accelerate our path to the next funding round — and beyond.

Technology

Our primary stack is Typescript, React (Next.js), Node (express), Python, and MongoDB. We also make heavy use of SQL since we integrate with our customer's data warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift, etc.). Our open source app is released as a Docker container and we have a cloud-hosted version in AWS.

In addition to the main GrowthBook app, we also build and maintain SDKs in many languages so there's plenty of opportunities to write some Go, Ruby, Swift, and more.

Interview Process
  1. Interview with head of marketing
  2. 2 more interviews, one with a founder
  3. Group presentation on how you will create a plan for your first 90 days at GrowthBook
