Job Summary

We're looking for a Product Engineering Intern to join our team in exploring and prototyping cutting-edge AI-powered features that can transform how pharmacies deliver patient care. You'll work directly with our Head of Product to bring early concepts to life through prototypes and visual demonstrations. This role is ideal for someone who’s curious about AI, enjoys building scrappy first versions of things, comfortable playing with emerging tools (LLMs, no-code, lightweight dev), and wants to work on meaningful healthcare problems in a fast-paced environment. You do not need to be an expert coder, but you should be comfortable figuring things out fast.

Co-founders Purya, Nick & Rui built MedMe together after identifying the biggest problem to be existing pharmacy software built 20 years ago with the primary purpose to sell drugs. Purya was a health data scientist for the government, Nick a product engineer for the Tesla Roadster, and Rui is a Pharmacist. Our team is equally passionate about using pharmacists to provide more services for patients in the community.

We are building software for an industry that has relied on paper and pen for a long time. This is why crafting, building, and constantly improving the end-to-end customer experience is an essential part of our company. It's crucial that we listen deeply to the diverse needs of our pharmacies - located anywhere from dense urban jungles to northern remote communities - to design and build for their needs to ultimately provide more proactive and sustainable care for the patients in their communities.

Our mission

MedMe is building the operating system to transform pharmacies into community health hubs. Pharmacies are increasingly doing more than just selling drugs, offering services like vaccinations, prescribing meds, and blood tests. MedMe Health builds software that helps schedule, document, and manage these services at scale.

At MedMe, our mission is to build the operating system that helps pharmacies evolve from transactional drug dispensaries into community care hubs. Co-founders Purya, Nick, and Rui, each with backgrounds in health data science, engineering, and pharmacy, launched MedMe to change how pharmacy care is delivered. Our platform currently powers over 4,500 pharmacies, enabling 25 million+ patient services across Canada and beyond.

The opportunity

You’ll work directly with the Head of Product to explore and prototype next-gen, AI-powered features that enable pharmacies to deliver better, more scalable care. Your focus will be on moving fast, taking early ideas and validating them through visual, interactive, or functional prototypes.

1. Discovery & Ideation

  • Collaborate directly with the Head of Product to identify and explore AI-based product opportunities
  • Assist in brainstorming and developing innovative concepts that align with MedMe’s strategic goals
  • Conduct research sprints, user interviews, and competitive reviews to inform early product thinking
  • Perform feasibility assessments and technical explorations to evaluate the potential and viability of new ideas

2. Design & Concept Development

  • Create low- to mid-fidelity wireframes, mockups, or user flows to communicate design intent
  • Explore different UX approaches to test usability, workflow fit, and patient/provider experience
  • Participate in cross-functional discussions to evaluate design, usability, and clinical impact

3. Prototyping & Validation

  • Build functional MVPs or proof-of-concepts to showcase potential product value
  • Use no-code tools, lightweight scripts, or design platforms to bring concepts to life
  • Iterate rapidly based on internal feedback and early user insights
  • Prepare internal demos and storytelling artifacts for both technical and non-technical stakeholders

Required

We don’t expect you to check every box. What matters most is that you’re a fast learner, a clear thinker, and energized by solving real problems.

You should:

  • Have strong entrepreneurial drive and a bias toward action — we’re building fast in a shifting landscape
  • Be comfortable with ambiguity, messy first drafts, and iterating fast
  • Be familiar with prototyping concepts, whether through design tools, no-code platforms, or lightweight code
  • Be curious about the healthcare space and motivated to build things that have real-world patient and clinician impact
  • Communicate clearly and collaborate well with product, design, and technical peers

Bonus if you:

  • Have experience building with modern prototyping tools — whether visual, low-code, or code-based
  • Are comfortable thinking critically about user flows, UX tradeoffs, and feasibility
  • Have exposure to tools or languages like React, JavaScript, TypeScript, NodeJS, GraphQL, or PostgreSQL — but these are by no means required

We’d love to hear about what you’ve built! Please include a short description of any relevant projects in your application.

Employer will be contacting you directly to make interview arrangements.

How We Hire

MedMe is committed to a fair and equitable hiring process for all candidates. To ensure that each candidate's journey is consistent and the selection process is unbiased, the team at MedMe will not be responding to any personal messages regarding this role or other opportunities.

Note: While the system may display a default deadline (e.g. September 20), we will be reviewing applications on a rolling basis and may fill the position before that date. We encourage you to apply as soon as possible.

Technology

We're looking for a passionate individuals in relentless pursuit of making an impact to join us on our journey in building the best platform for pharmacists as they shift from their dispensing based roles, to one that provides virtual care to chronically ill patients. Without adequate software and new workflows, we may see an entire workforce of 40,000 highly-trained clinicians (in Canada alone) slowly be phased out by robots and automation.

In addition to facilitating the transition for pharmacists to a new healthcare role based on their current education/training, MedMe is also for the first time capturing clinical pharmacy data with plans to integrate with health peripheral data (such as those from Fitbits and Apple Watches). This provides tremendous insights on the treatment journey of patients outside of the hospital, and opens up massive AI opportunities for: preventative medicine, insurance costs/ROI, pharmacological effectiveness, and healthcare consumer behaviours.
