The Role

We're seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the development of our sophisticated AI infrastructure and mentor our growing engineering team. You'll architect and build advanced AI pipelines that power our tax automation platform while providing technical leadership across our full-stack development efforts.

What You'll Do

• Architect sophisticated AI pipelines using AWS Bedrock, Pinecone, and cutting-edge ML models
• Design and implement RAG systems for intelligent document processing and tax code interpretation
• Build end-to-end features across our full technology stack with a focus on AI-powered workflows
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, pair programming, and technical guidance
• Lead technical decision-making on architecture, tooling, and engineering best practices
• Optimize AI model performance for accuracy, speed, and cost-effectiveness at scale
• Collaborate with tax experts to translate complex domain knowledge into intelligent automation
• Drive engineering excellence through testing strategies, documentation, and code quality standards

What We're Looking For

Required

• 5+ years of professional software development experience
• Expert-level proficiency in TypeScript and modern JavaScript ecosystems
• Strong experience with AI/ML platforms - OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar LLM APIs
• Vector database experience with Pinecone, Weaviate, or equivalent
• AWS expertise including Bedrock, Lambda, Step Functions, and serverless architectures
• Full-stack development skills with React/Next.js and Node.js
• Mentoring experience - demonstrated ability to guide and develop junior engineers
• System design experience for scalable, distributed applications
• Testing expertise across unit, integration, and end-to-end testing strategies

Preferred

• RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation) implementation experience
• Document processing and NLP experience for unstructured data
• Fine-tuning experience with large language models
• MLOps/AI pipeline deployment experience
• Financial or compliance software background
• Startup leadership experience in fast-growth environments
• Open source contributions or technical writing/speaking experience
