Lead GNC Engineer – Reditus Space
Location: Atlanta, GA
Department: Engineering – Guidance, Navigation & Control (GNC)
Employment Type: Full-time
About Reditus Space
Reditus Space is pioneering scalable, rapid-turnaround microgravity manufacturing and return from LEO. Our ENOS spacecraft is designed to transform low Earth orbit into an engine of economic value. We’re building a world-class team to deliver on this vision-and we’re seeking a Lead GNC Engineer who will set the bar for technical excellence, innovation, and ownership. If you have the passion, drive, and talent to rival the best in the industry, we want you.
Role Overview
As Lead GNC Engineer, you will own the architecture, develop, and implementation of all spacecraft guidance, navigation, and control systems from concept through launch, reentry, and recovery. You will lead the development of algorithms, software, and hardware interfaces that enable precision flight, robust autonomy, and safe, reliable mission execution. You will collaborate across disciplines, mentor engineers, and drive the development of GNC solutions that push the boundaries of what’s possible in commercial spaceflight.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for someone who thrives in fast-paced, hardware-rich environments, embraces rapid iteration, and is relentless in pursuit of mission success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the design, development, and validation of all GNC algorithms and software for spacecraft attitude, trajectory, and landing control.
- Architect robust navigation solutions using IMUs, GNSS, star trackers, and other sensors; develop sensor fusion and state estimation algorithms.
- Develop and maintain high-fidelity 6-DOF simulation environments for system analysis, validation, and mission planning.
- Analyze vehicle dynamics, trajectory dispersions, and flight stability; perform Monte Carlo and hardware-in-the-loop testing to ensure performance and reliability.
- Implement and optimize real-time flight software, ensuring deterministic and fault-tolerant operation in embedded environments.
- Lead multidisciplinary investigations to define GNC system architecture and requirements in collaboration with avionics, propulsion, structures, and payload teams.
- Drive the development and execution of rigorous test plans, including unit, integration, and flight testing; correlate flight data with analytical models for continuous improvement.
- Support launch and mission operations, troubleshooting and resolving GNC-related issues in real time.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and first-principles thinking.
- Prepare and present technical documentation, reports, and design reviews for internal and external stakeholders.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience designing, implementing, and testing GNC systems for aerospace vehicles or similarly demanding applications.
- Deep expertise in dynamics, control theory, estimation, and simulation of aerospace systems.
- Proficiency in STK, MATLAB/Simulink, C/C++, and Python for algorithm development and simulation.
- Experience with embedded software development and real-time systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams and deliver projects from concept to flight.
- Experience with sensor integration, data fusion, and hardware-in-the-loop testing with a focus on test-as-you-fly, fly-as-you-test philosophy.
- Relentless ownership of project outcomes and performance.
Preferred Qualifications
- Software development skills in extending into web app development and ground station interfacing.
- Experience with reusable space systems or launch vehicle GNC systems.
- Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, hardware iteration, and flight testing.
- Familiarity with safety-critical software development and industry standards (e.g., DO-178).
- Experience working in high-velocity, hardware-focused environments (e.g., SpaceX, Blue Origin, Rocket Lab, Stoke).
- Strong record of innovation and technical leadership on multidisciplinary teams.
What We Offer
- The opportunity to build and fly hardware that will transform the future of space manufacturing.
- A hands-on, high-impact engineering culture with rapid iteration, real responsibility, and minimal bureaucracy.
- Competitive salary and equity package with generous healthcare benefits.
- The chance to work alongside some of the best engineers in the industry on high-impact problems.
- An open, non-hierarchical environment where talent, drive, and results matter most.
