About the role

Avionics Integration Engineer – Reditus Space

Location: Atlanta, GA

Department: Engineering – Avionics

Employment Type: Full-time

About Reditus Space

Reditus Space is pioneering scalable, rapid-turnaround microgravity manufacturing and return from LEO. Our ENOS spacecraft is at the forefront of this mission, and we are building a world-class team to deliver on this vision. Join us to help set the standard for technical excellence and innovation in space.

Role Overview

As an Avionics Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for the hands-on integration, wiring, and test setup of spacecraft avionics systems. You will work closely with the Lead Avionics Engineer and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration, robust wiring harnesses, and reliable test environments for flight and ground systems. This role is critical to achieving the reliability, performance, and reusability standards of our spacecraft.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, route, and review wiring harnesses for flight and ground test applications, ensuring compliance with space-grade standards (e.g., ECSS-Q-ST-70-61C, NASA-STD-8739.4A).
  • Develop and maintain detailed harness and wiring diagrams, electrical schematics, and integration documentation.
  • Plan and execute the integration of avionics hardware onto spacecraft, including power systems, data buses, sensors, and communication interfaces.
  • Own the setup, maintenance, and operation of hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) test tables and avionics system testbeds.
  • Collaborate with electronics, software, structures, propulsion, and manufacturing teams to define and implement integration and test procedures.
  • Support integrated vehicle operations, including writing work instructions, maintaining test racks, and being present for major vehicle avionics tests.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues during development, integration, and testing phases, driving corrective actions and design improvements.
  • Ensure all wiring and harness assemblies meet quality and reliability requirements for space environments, including proper material selection, routing, tie-downs, and inspection.
  • Assist in developing day-of-flight procedures and sequences for avionics health checks, charging, and launch operations.
  • Support customer payload integration and provide technical assistance during on-site activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in avionics integration, wiring harness design, or related aerospace hardware roles.
  • Proficiency with modeling & electrical CAD tools (e.g. NX, OnShape, Altium, Eagle, KiCAD) and experience creating harness and wiring diagrams.
  • Hands-on experience with avionics system integration, electrical assembly, and test setups for aerospace or similarly demanding applications.
  • Strong understanding of electrical system architecture, power distribution, data buses (CAN, RS-422, Ethernet, SpaceWire), and communication protocols.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear work instructions, integration procedures, and test plans.
  • Familiarity with space-grade wiring standards and quality control processes (e.g., IPC J-STD-001, NASA-STD-8739.4A).
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills; ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with avionics development for reusable flight vehicles or high-temperature environment systems.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping, hardware iteration, and system bring-up in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with spacecraft or launch vehicle avionics integration and test operations.
  • Knowledge of hardware-in-the-loop testing and continuous integration methodologies.
  • Experience supporting launch site operations and integrated vehicle checkout.
  • Ability to innovate and solve complex integration challenges with a first-principles approach.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to build and fly hardware that will transform the future of space manufacturing.
  • A hands-on, high-impact engineering culture with rapid iteration, real responsibility, and minimal red tape.
  • Competitive salary and equity package with generous healthcare benefits.
  • The chance to work alongside some of the best engineers in the industry on high-impact problems.
  • An open, non-hierarchical environment where talent, drive, and results matter most.

Reditus Space is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

If you’re passionate about building the future of space and excel at hands-on avionics integration, wiring, and test setups, apply now to join Reditus Space and help us deliver on our mission.
