About the role

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 days in office)

**About Us:**

DraftWise is seeking Strategic Business Development Leads with top-tier legal experience to join our rapidly growing team. Ideal candidates will be lawyers who have honed their craft at leading law firms and are ready to leverage their expertise to redefine how legal professionals work.

In this role, you’ll partner with our Account Executives to guide and execute sales and marketing strategies, ensuring customers understand how DraftWise’s AI-powered solutions transform their day-to-day workflows. Acting as trusted advisors to partners and associates at some of New York’s most prestigious law firms, private equity firms, and multinational corporations, you will demonstr in ate how our cutting-edge technology delivers measurable value to legal teams and materially improve our company’s understanding of how we can help our best-in-the-business legal users.

As the legal counterpart to an Account Executive, you’ll help clients evaluate DraftWise solutions by conducting in-depth discovery, building tailored demos, managing client implementations, and forging consultative relationships that resonate with legal professionals. You will become a trusted advisor for law firm’s knowledge strategies.

What You’ll do

  • Engage Legal Professionals: Meet with lawyers at leading law firms to understand their workflow challenges and to demonstrate how DraftWise’s solutions for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating documents address these needs.
  • Become a Trusted Partner: Develop strategic relationships with top law firms in the industry as you help them to build innovation and knowledge strategies for their firms leveraging the latest technological breakthroughs
  • Build Expertise: Become a trusted legal technology expert, delivering tailored product demonstrations that align with specific practice areas, such as corporate governance, due diligence, or contract analysis.
  • Drive Implementation Excellence: Manage pilot implementations to ensure rapid time to value and to build user and sponsor champions of our software within early-stage customers
  • Develop Marketing Messaging: Partner with our marketing team to create impactful content that speaks directly to the needs of New York City-based law firms and corporate legal teams.
  • Enhance Sales Effectiveness: Act as a subject matter expert for our sales team, equipping them with deep insights into legal workflows to strengthen their conversations with prospective clients.
  • Drive Market Understanding: Conduct research on key players, market trends, and competitors to refine sales strategies and identify new opportunities.

What You Bring

  • Legal Expertise: J.D. or LLM with experience at an Am Law 100 firm , or similarly prestigious firm. Experience collaborating with Knowledge Management & Innovation (KM&I) teams is highly desirable.
  • Client-Focused Communication: Strong executive engagement skills, with the ability to build credibility and rapport with partners, associates, and in-house counsel at all levels.
  • Presentation Excellence: Outstanding skills in delivering persuasive presentations to legal and executive audiences.
  • Passion for Innovation: A genuine interest in legal technology and its ability to transform the practice of law. A belief that technology is a force for good when leveraged responsibly and securely. Experience procuring or introducing innovative new software to your firm or company
  • Sales or Client Experience Advantage: Experience in business development, or managing client matters is a plus, particularly if you’ve engaged directly with senior stakeholders.
