R2 enables platforms in Latin America to embed financial services that SMBs can then leverage (starting with revenue-based financing). We are a tight knit team coming from organizations such as Amazon, Google, Nubank, Capital One, Uber, Mercado Libre, Globant, J.P. Morgan and HSBC. As an Accounting Associate, you will coordinate and ensure seamless execution of all accounting, tax and financial control responsibilities in each country where R2 operates. You will report to the Controller and will work closely with our Controllership, FP&A, Treasury/FinOps and Strategy teams and interact with multiple stakeholders in different countries.

What you’ll work on

• Enabling the monthly accounting close, AR/AP and invoicing processes.
• Drive the close process for two of R2’s key operating entities.
• Deliver process improvements to enhance the efficiency and accuracy of the monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting process.
• Play a key role in centralizing the Controllership operations in our ERP system, which includes the production and analysis of individual and consolidated financial statements and managing our accounts payables.
• Manage the calculation, payment and reporting of relevant monthly taxes in a timely and accurate manner.
• Enable compliance with local tax regulation in each country that we operate.
• Perform a key role supporting the Controller  in annual external and internal audits.
• Provide advice on accounting treatment and reporting issues to other stakeholders in the company.
• Support the Controller and collaborate with other Finance team members in the implementation and execution of policies and procedures to enhance the financial controls and systems.
• Work closely with other teams in the company to improve the way in which our operating systems produce information.

You are likely to have:

• 5+ years of accounting work experience, including a minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position.
• CPA, or equivalent professional accounting qualification, and Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.
• Experience implementing best practice accounting processes.
• Extensive knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP accounting.
• Experience working in a bank, leasing company or other financial institution, a fintech, multinational-corporation or tech company.
• High competency in Netsuite or demonstrated capability with other ERP / financial statements software and process automation. 
• Experience working at a Big 4 firm preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Spanish and English - R2 conducts business in English. 
• Excited about R2’s mission, and interest in embedded lending and financial infrastructure, and the challenge of working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
