About Nox Metals

Nox Metals builds automated metal processing cells. We use proprietary software to run aluminum cutting operations faster and with less labor than anyone else in the industry.

The Role

You will be our dedicated engineering leader. You start by shipping code. Over time you build and lead the team.

Our core software handles quoting, job scheduling, nesting optimization, machine operations, and analytics. You will own all of it and take it from an internal tool to a platform that scales across our entire operation.

This is an on-site role. You will spend time on the factory floor.

What You Will Do

• Own the full technical roadmap for our software platform
• Ship features across the stack: quoting, job intelligence, operator UX, machine integration
• Build and maintain infrastructure that scales with our fleet of automated cells
• Design and implement customer-facing integrations
• Instrument the data pipeline that feeds our machine learning models
• Recruit and grow an engineering team as the company scales
• Set architecture standards and maintain code quality
• Manage and use a Large compute budget efficiently

What We Are Looking For

• 5+ years of software engineering experience shipping production systems
• Experience managing or mentoring engineers
• Full-stack capable: database to UI to cloud infra
• Moves fast and has good judgment about when to build vs. buy
• Experience with real-time systems, job scheduling, or operational software is a plus
• Manufacturing or hardware-adjacent background is a plus
• Based in or willing to relocate to Detroit
• Hands on ML exp

At Nox Metals, we build software that controls how metal moves through a factory. Quoting, scheduling, cutting, and shipping are all handled through code. We use AI to automate repetitive tasks like cut planning, inventory picking, and quality checks to turn hours of manual work into seconds.

Our stack includes React, Next.js, Python, Firebase, and Supabase. We also work with CAD tools and optimization logic. You’ll build tools that directly impact real-world operations and help manufacturers get metal faster.
