The Role: Founding Solutions Engineer (Revenue IC)

We are hiring a highly technical, solution-minded individual contributor to help drive revenue end-to-end.

There is no traditional sales team today.

You will partner directly with the CEO to:

  • Drive net-new revenue
  • Lead technical and commercial conversations
  • Own discovery through POC through close
  • Shape our technical GTM motion

This is a rare opportunity to operate as a technical closer — not just a demo resource.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead customer conversations from first technical discovery through implementation design
  • Whiteboard architecture with data platform and AI teams
  • Run demos, workshops, and value-based discussions
  • Scope and execute high-impact POCs
  • Respond to RFPs and manage procurement conversations alongside leadership
  • Translate complex data and AI infrastructure challenges into clear business value
  • Build repeatable technical sales processes and artifacts
  • Act as the bridge between customer needs and product roadmap (working closely with the CTO)

  • Deeply technical in modern data stacks (Spark, Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, pipelines, metadata, ML systems)
  • Experienced in customer-facing roles within data infrastructure, SaaS, or cloud
  • Comfortable owning both technical and commercial momentum in a deal
  • Able to simplify complex architecture into business impact
  • Thrive in zero-to-one environments
  • High ownership mindset — you don’t wait for structure, you create it
  • Motivated by impact, not title

Here at Telmai, we’re looking for sales engineering head who loves technology and technical audience. This is a very strategic role where you will be driving all the marketing initiatives.

Initial screening

This stage is a more informal call to get to know more about the role, and for you to evaluate whether it’s a good fit for you. We are looking for people with a strong interest in working for startups and motivation to bootstrap marketing.

Additionally, we’re a small sales team not likely to scale for next 6 months. This means fewer opportunities to manage large budget and teams. However there will be full autonomy.

In this chat, you’re welcome to ask lots of questions about whether working at Telmai makes sense for you.

Lastly, the conversation will cover some light technical discussion about your past experience. Mostly, we want to know that you can market to developers (data engineers/architect) and speak to them with clarity in their language.

Initial Screening

Our initial screen is intended as a first pass to assess relevant sales engineering skills for Telmai.

Offline review on Telmai : We will provide candidates with some blogs/videos about Telmai so they can review offline.

Interview Process

The interview process is a deeper dive into marketing abilities including demand gen, growth marketing and product marketing, we are again looking for ownership and autonomy, and dont expect you to know it all. Each interview is 1 hour long, with 45 minutes allocated for the sales experience, and 15 minutes for Q&A.

Offline exercise : Candidates will be asked to do a short offline sales exercise in the context of Telmai. Our internal team will then review this exercise. We will schedule 45 minutes for any questions we might have on the exercise.

Last step would be meeting our advisor/investor partners.
