About Toma

At Toma, we’re building something unorthodox—a fully AI-driven platform reshaping how 18,000 car dealerships operate nationwide.

Our small team (from ex-Scale AI/Uber founders who’ve never owned cars, to a pro Valorant player, robotics champion, motocross racer, and more) spent months living and breathing the space to learn the ropes.

About the role
Skills: Node.js, TypeScript, PostgreSQL

We're building the AI platform for underserved industries.

LLM usage has seen a meteoric rise in the past year, but there is still a significant gap between agentic innovation and its use in the real world. This is especially true for underserved industries like automotive and healthcare, where outdated systems persist due to barriers to entry, legacy software, and high-stakes consequences of hallucinations and failure.

Here at Toma (YC W24), we are bridging this gap by providing a customer-centric platform to deploy and monitor AI agents, even for non-technical users. We recently raised a $17M Series A from a16z and are building the future of human-AI interactions, starting in the automotive industry.

Our Team

We’re assembling a team of Avengers: engineers, product managers, former founders, athletes, and leaders from Scale AI, Uber, Braze, Microsoft, Amazon, and more. We consider everyone regardless of their backgrounds or identities. Learn more about us here.

About this Role

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer and people-person to join our GTM team and help us scale our integrations, partnerships, and growth strategy. You will interface with the CTO, marketing, and operations to actively partner with automotive tech vendors and build what we are internally calling the Plaid for Automotive.

What you will do

  • Interface with CTO, marketing, and operations

  • Engage in meetings with automotive vendor partners

  • Create tooling to enable operations to onboard customers faster and to leverage partner platforms more efficiently

  • Achieve certifications across all common vendors

  • Build DMS and Scheduler integrations to increase TAM and product capabilities

  • Build robust testing and improve the integration development experience

  • Create brand new call flows that no other AI vendors have

  • Establish better monitoring for integrations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in TypeScript and integrating with external APIs

  • Strong problem ownership and drive

  • Experience in working with external partners (infrastructure, integrations, etc.)

  • Passion and guts for talking to (and getting roasted by) customers

  • Experience in building LLM applications and/or aptitude for prompt engineering

Don’t think you meet all the qualifications? Apply anyway. We’d love to hear what excites you about us, and we may have a role that's a good fit for you.

Benefits

  • MacBook Pro 16" M4 Max (or newest high-end equivalent)

  • Free daily in-office lunch and dinners

  • Competitive salary with meaningful equity

  • Free health, dental, and vision insurance

  • Weekly team outings and customer visits

  • Unlimited PTO

Technology

We've built our ultra-low latency voice, video, and multimodal APIs in-house and leverage TypeScript and Bun heavily, even for inference.
