Quick Summary:

VetRec is committed to supporting the next generation of veterinary professionals before they enter private practice,  and is currently partnered with Cornell University, Texas A&M, North Carolina State University, and several additional veterinary programs. As we accelerate our academic strategy, we are hiring a University Partnerships Manager to deepen these relationships and develop new ones.

This role works directly with the Head of Business Development and has significant visibility across Product, Customer Success, and Executive Leadership. It is a high-impact, relationship-driven position at the center of VetRec’s long-term educational strategy.

What will you be doing:

You’ll own VetRec’s university ecosystem, building new partnerships, supporting existing accounts, and elevating our academic presence through research, campus events, and student engagement.

Partnership Development & Expansion

  • Identify, pursue, and secure new university and veterinary school partnerships.
  • Manage the full RFP process, from drafting and coordinating internal stakeholders to formal submission and live presentations.
  • Build strong relationships with deans, faculty leads, program heads, and teaching hospital administrators.
  • Secure speaking opportunities for VetRec leadership at schools, including lectures, workshops, and curriculum-aligned sessions.
  • Support the continued growth of existing strategic partnerships, including Cornell, Texas A&M, and NCSU.

Account Management & Adoption

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for partnered universities, ensuring a high-quality, proactive experience.
  • Drive active usage across faculty, students, and clinical instructors by coordinating onboarding, training, and ongoing engagement.
  • Monitor adoption metrics and develop tailored strategies to increase activation and long-term retention.
  • Partner closely with Customer Success and Engineering to resolve issues and surface academic-specific feedback.

On-Campus Engagement & Travel

  • Travel frequently (once a month or once every two months) to universities for relationship building, training, events, and speaking engagements.
  • Represent VetRec at sponsored events, conferences, and student programming.

Program Building & Academic Collaboration

  • Build and manage VetRec’s Student Ambassador Program to drive on-campus awareness and peer-to-peer adoption.
  • Identify and secure opportunities for research collaborations, pilot studies, and academic initiatives.
  • Support integration of VetRec into teaching environments, student labs, and clinical rotations.

Who do we want

Someone who shares the values that we share. Someone who constantly raises the bar, is proactive, has grit and determination, and can get s* done. We are a fast-growing startup and as such, we work very hard (also celebrate every win!). Our team puts 10 hours a day on average into building this company. While there is not a specific time commitment as project-based outcomes > time-based ones, there is a sense of urgency to iterate and deliver constantly.

Specifically for this role:

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in academic environments, knows how to navigate university systems, and enjoys building relationships across diverse stakeholders, from deans to students.

  • 3+ years of experience working with universities, academic institutions, or higher-education partnership management.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the confidence to engage with senior academic leaders.
  • Experience managing long sales or partnership cycles with multiple decision-makers.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, especially for RFPs, proposals, and formal presentations.
  • Ability to travel frequently (once per month or once every two months).
  • A proactive, organized, and self-directed approach suited to a fast-growing startup.
  • Experience in veterinary medicine, animal health, medical education, or healthcare technology is a big plus.
  • Familiarity with academic procurement processes, curriculum integration, or research collaboration structures is a big plus.
  • Experience launching or running student ambassador or campus engagement programs is a big plus.

 Our values

  • Get s* done: We are a fast-paced team, shipping features daily, and onboarding clinics and hospitals of all types and sizes daily.
  • Transparency: We believe in absolute honesty amongst our team and customers.
  • Grit: Competing in an evolving market means going above and beyond for our customers and fighting on behalf of them every day.
  • Customers, customers, customers: Did we already mention customers? They are the lifeblood of our business, without them we don’t exist.
  • Over-communication > under-communication: As a small, fast paced team, communication is vital. We look for team members that will keep things moving and constantly update the team as needed.

Why you should come work with us

  • You want to be part of a team that is building something people want. You are energetic, willing to put in the work, and enjoy the fast-paced nature of a startup.
  • You love animals and are familiar - or want to get deeply familiarized - with the veterinary medicine industry.
  • As an early-stage member of the team, you get to influence the product, the direction of the company, hiring, and the forming of new teams.

Compensation

  • The base salary for this position is $65,000-$75,000
  • Equity in the company
