About the Job:

Forward Deployed Engineering was a term coined by Palantir (a software company) to describe engineers who would work with clients directly in the field.

Our clients are veterinary professionals in veterinary clinics, and we need someone with a hustler mentality to travel and onboard our customers, maintain relationships and troubleshoot them on site.

This role requires extensive traveling. Expectations are to travel once a week.

What will you be doing:

  • Travel. Go to veterinary clinics that have signed up for VetRec and need help onboarding or are waiting for a more structured rollout.
  • Troubleshoot any VetRec issues by assisting in person to unblock the customer, limiting the amount of times engineering is looped in.
  • Report on client visits. Setting go-forward plans, account management touch points, and learnings/feedback from our customers.
  • Work very closely with our Account Managers. Maintain an excellent relationship with our account manager and implementation specialists from HQ.
  • Maintains customer relationships and status in our CRM.

Who do we want

Someone who shares the values that we share. A person that is excited to travel every week and have an excellent attitude with our customers. Someone who constantly raises the bar, is proactive, has grit and determination, and can get s* done. We are a fast-growing startup and as such, we work very hard (also celebrate every win!). Our team puts 10 hours a day on average into building this company. While there is not a specific time commitment as project-based outcomes > time-based ones, there is a sense of urgency to iterate and deliver constantly.

Specifically for this role:

  • Has no problem traveling once a week to veterinary clinics.
  • Is an excellent communicator and approachable person.
  • Able to explain concepts and do demos in a friendly and easy-to-understand way.
  • Learns technology fast and is able to troubleshoot issues with minimal intervention.
  • Has high agency and is independent but not afraid to ask questions when stuck.
  • Experience operating and excelling in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience doing demos and implementing SAAS or AI products is a plus.
  • Experience in the Veterinary Medicine industry is a big plus.
  • Experience in working at a startup or small company is a plus.
  • Can be out of college, 1 year, 5 year, 10 year or however many years of experience. We want someone who would love to this job by traveling, onboarding, unlocking our customers and maintaining a relationship with them.
  • If you are reading this and you’ve implemented rollouts for PiMS before, please apply and indicate that in the application, you’ll be fast tracked. If you’ve traveled to implement those, you’ll be fast tracked to an interview.

Our values

  • Get s* done: We are a fast-paced team, shipping features daily, and onboarding clinics and hospitals of all types and sizes daily.
  • Transparency: We believe in absolute honesty amongst our team and customers.
  • Grit: Competing in an evolving market means going above and beyond for our customers and fighting on behalf of them every day.
  • Customers, customers, customers: Did we already mention customers? They are the lifeblood of our business, without them we don’t exist.
  • Over-communication > under-communication: As a small, fast paced team, communication is vital. We look for team members that will keep things moving and constantly update the team as needed.

Why you should come work with us

  • You want to be part of a team that is building something people want. You are energetic, willing to put in the work, and enjoy the fast-paced nature of a startup.
  • You love animals and are familiar - or want to get deeply familiarized - with the veterinary medicine industry.
  • As an early-stage member of the team, you get to influence the product, the direction of the company, hiring, and the forming of new teams.
