About this Internship

As an AI Product Engineering Intern at Speak, you’ll contribute directly to building the future of language learning by creating innovative, AI-powered product experiences. You’ll work hands-on with cutting-edge Language Learning Models (LLMs) to help millions of users worldwide become fluent faster.

This is a high-impact internship where you’ll learn from top engineers and product thinkers while taking ownership of meaningful projects. You’ll have the opportunity to work across the stack and contribute to features that shape the core learning experience at Speak.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Building and shipping features: Contribute to the development of LLM-powered experiences such as conversational onboarding, grammar assessment and feedback, and personalized lessons.
• Experimenting with AI models: Test prompts, evaluate model performance, and help refine systems that make learning feel natural and effective.
• Collaborating across teams: Work with Engineering, Applied ML, Product, Design, and Content to bring new features from idea to launch.
• Improving processes: Help refine best practices for prompting, experimentation, LLM Ops, and evaluation.
• Scaling impact: Contribute to systems that reach millions of users across 30+ countries and multiple languages.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong foundation in computer science and software engineering (experience with React, Node, TypeScript, and/or Python is a plus).
• Curiosity and excitement about LLMs, with some prior exposure through projects, coursework, or personal exploration.
• Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong product sense: you think not just about how something works, but also how it impacts users.
• Eagerness to take ownership of meaningful projects and contribute to real-world products.
