About Agave

We’re modernizing construction, a $12T global industry run by siloed software built 20-40 years ago (on-prem, no APIs, no mobile access, etc.).

Our core product is Agave Sync, which helps General and Trade Contractors keep financial data in sync between their field teams on jobsites and their accounting teams in a central back office.

We do this by building proprietary connections between these companies' systems of record using our API and syncing data between them automatically. We save them time and money, making them more productive and profitable.

Our founding team has worked together for 10 years, first at Graphiq (acq. by Amazon) then at Amazon. We've raised over $5m from YC, Accel, and leaders from Plaid, Procore, Autodesk, PlanGrid, Aconex, and more.

About the role

tl;dr we’re hiring a smart, resourceful generalist to help us scale recruiting and operations at Agave. You’ll source top candidates, run recruiting logistics, improve our hiring systems, and ensure every candidate has a thoughtful, personal experience. This is a unique opportunity to see how a fast-growing startup hires, scale a top 1% team, and quickly grow in responsibility. High performers will have the opportunity to convert into a full-time role.

Every day, contractors run into the same problem: their business-critical systems don’t talk to each other. These systems, for accounting, project management, estimating, payroll, and field operations each hold essential data — from job costs and invoices to budgets and schedules, and are the backbone of how contractors run their business, make decisions, and keep projects moving.

When these systems and data live in silos, the result is errors, delays, double-entry, and wasted money. Teams spend countless hours reconciling spreadsheets, chasing down missing information, and trying to stitch together a reliable view of their projects and finances.

Agave solves this by being the connective tissue across the industry’s most important tools. We integrate and synchronize data across systems so that contractors always have accurate, up-to-date information in real-time — enabling them to work faster, make better decisions, and avoid costly mistakes.

In just a few years, we’ve hit milestones most startups never reach: 370+ paying customers, millions in recurring revenue, profitable for over a year, and backed by Accel, YC, and top executives from Procore, Autodesk, and PlanGrid.

We’ve built something people actually need, in a market most of Silicon Valley ignores — which is exactly why we’re winning. The only thing slowing us down is hiring. Our team is small, scrappy, and high-caliber, and we’re looking for the next wave of builders who will help take Agave from breakout startup to category-defining company.

Responsibilities

  • Candidate Sourcing — Identify and reach out to talent from top schools, industries, and networks; experiment with creative hacks to uncover hidden candidates and design sourcing strategies that give us an edge over other startups.
  • Strategic Input — Contribute ideas on where we should search for talent, how we should position ourselves to candidates, etc.
  • Recruiting Ops — Run logistics like scheduling, interview coordination, and candidate communication; think critically about how to streamline the process and reduce bottlenecks as we scale.
  • Conversion — Partner with teammates to move candidates through our funnel efficiently and thoughtfully; analyze where drop-off happens and propose strategies to improve close rates.
  • Process Improvement — Track what’s working, fix what isn’t, and help optimize our recruiting tools and systems; evaluate and recommend new tools, workflows, or automations to make our hiring engine more effective.

What we look for

Who you are:

  • Senior at a top university in the U.S. (e.g. Stanford, Berkeley, Princeton, MIT, etc.) with a strong academic record
  • Hungry to learn, resourceful, and excited to get hands-on experience at a fast-growing startup
  • Comfortable wearing many hats and figuring things out quickly with limited direction

Must have:

  • Curiosity, hustle, and ability to figure things out quickly
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-orientation and organizational skills

Nice to have:

  • Prior internship experience in recruiting, operations, or campus leadership roles
  • Interest in startups, entrepreneurship, or building things from the ground up

Details

  • Location: Remote optional
  • Commitment: 10-20 hrs/week, with the opportunity to work more hours as you succeed
    • Opportunity to convert full-time after graduation
  • Compensation: $30-$40/hour
  • Growth: High-performing interns will have the opportunity to grow in responsibility and convert into a full-time role after graduation.
