About Zinc

Zinc is building the programmable commerce layer for the internet. Our API already enables tens of thousands of transactions each month, and our goal is much bigger: a world where any purchase online can be automated and integrated through a simple API.

As commerce shifts to automation, AI, and agents, the purchasing layer of the internet will become essential infrastructure. You will have a direct hand in building it.

About the role

Skills: Python, Node.js, Playwright/Puppeteer, AWS/GCP, Docker, Linux, C

Zinc is building the programmable commerce layer for the internet, and this role is central to making it real. We need an engineer who can balance maintaining our existing infrastructure with preparing us for the scale ahead. You’ll work directly with the CEO in NYC, side-by-side, on the toughest technical problems in scraping, automation, and distributed systems.

Senior Engineers at Zinc own the systems that power tens of thousands of transactions each month and ensure they continue to run reliably as we grow. You’ll help us evolve our infrastructure into the purchasing layer of the internet while solving adversarial, high-scale problems every day.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and expand Zinc’s web automation and scraping pipelines to stay resilient as the web evolves
  • Build new infrastructure that balances resilience today with growth tomorrow
  • Debug production issues at the network/proxy/browser level and ship rapid fixes under pressure
  • Collaborate directly with CEO on prioritization, product direction, and technical tradeoffs

Requirements

  • 5+ years of software engineering experience maintaining production systems
  • Hands-on with Playwright / Puppeteer / Selenium or similar, with deep knowledge of proxies, session management, and anti-bot detection/evasion, plus experience running Linux systems in production with Docker and AWS/GCP
  • Can contribute across the full web stack, with a focus on building resilient, scalable backend systems
  • Self-starter and owner-mindset — you solve problems as you see them, can effectively self-manage, and raise yourself & others to a high standard
  • Enjoy collaboration with a diverse group of stakeholders while bringing your unique background to the team
  • Firmly believe in the mission and toolset we are building for the future of commerce

Bonus: Experience with AI/ML for automation, contributions to scraping/open-source tooling, or past work on anti-fingerprinting / stealth automation

Location: New York City
