SpruceID lets users control their data across the web. Instead of people signing into platforms, we imagine platforms should sign into people’s data vaults. We implement this pattern into digital wallet ecosystems for governments, enterprises, and blockchains. We believe that architectures that enable individual autonomy in the digital world are necessary for free societies and dynamic economies to thrive.
SpruceID builds privacy-preserving, standards-based digital identity and credentialing solutions that give individuals control of their information while enabling governments and enterprises to deliver secure, interoperable services. We partner with public-sector organizations to modernize how identity is issued, verified, and used.
As a Forward Deployed Engineering Manager , you will lead a team of engineers delivering solutions for state governments and other public sector partners. You will be responsible for both people management and delivery execution , ensuring projects meet customer needs while supporting the growth and success of your team. This role combines engineering leadership, customer engagement, and operational management. You’ll work closely with delivery managers and executives, both within SpruceID and in government, to align technical execution with strategic outcomes.
This job is fully remote within the US.

At SpruceID, we value diversity of perspectives and backgrounds. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, color, ancestry, religion, sex, national origin, sexual orientation, age, citizenship, marital status, disability, gender identity, or veteran status.
Our product is called Credible, and it allows organizations to manage the complete lifecycle of digital credentials, across issuance, custody, and verification. We support a variety of use cases including high assurance state identity with the mobile driver’s license, professional licensing, and even identities for non-person entities such as machines on a network.
We release our open-source libraries under the brand SpruceKit, which span foundational building blocks for digital wallets, verifiers, and issuers of digital credentials. Most of our core software is written in Rust, and cross-compiled to different environments as necessary. This ensures we have reduced overhead for common functionality, while taking full advantage of Rust’s efficiency and memory safety on specific platforms.
