Seam is an API for controlling a wide range of IoT devices.
Today we primarily focus on door lock and access systems. Our customers span industries, such as hospitality, real-estate, networking equipment, or even last-mile delivery, and range in size from startups-in-garage to public companies.
Across the board, their goal is the same: use code to control hardware devices, and orchestrate the physical world.
Our team is made of alums from Nest, Sonder, Stanford, Apple, Latch, Berkeley, YC, and more. We shipped millions of IoT devices and built dev tools used by every developer on earth. We are advised by the amazing Bunnie Huang and backed by Tiger Global, Root VC, founders and execs at Stripe, Plaid, and Airbnb, and other amazing angels and funds.
We generally seek "sharp minds with kind souls." We prefer generalists over specialists; we move quickly, with purpose; we enjoy working with each other and aim to be the best.
Seam builds the infrastructure that connects software to the physical world. With Seam, companies create products that automate spaces, streamline operations, and elevate everyday experiences—like unlocking doors, managing climate, and monitoring properties from anywhere.
We power smart devices in the real world, from door locks to thermostats. If you’ve ever checked into an Airbnb with a code, you’ve likely used Seam. Our customers include property management platforms, commercial integrators, and startups building for offices, gyms, and co-working spaces.
We provide APIs, SDKs, hosted UIs, and tools that let developers build connected experiences quickly and reliably. You’ll join a team of engineers, designers, and product managers focused on simplifying automation across devices and environments.
You’ll own how developers learn, explore, and build with Seam. From documentation to sample apps, you’ll create resources that reduce time-to-first-success, clarify integration paths, and showcase what’s possible with our platform.
This role blends developer education, content architecture, and light-touch advocacy. You’ll work closely with product and engineering, translating what they ship into materials that drive understanding, engagement, and adoption.
Collaborating with engineering, product, and marketing to create and revise documentation that makes work simpler, more pleasant, and more productive for developers and builders.
Creating content, including API, SDK, and CLI documentation, code snippets, sample apps, tutorials, release notes, and posts for our developer changelog and blog.
Building content strategy and information architecture to drive platform engagement, enablement, and growth.
Engage with developers at customer companies and incorporate their feedback into our documentation.
Streamline the documentation pipeline by using tools like AI, static site generators, and internal automations to accelerate content creation and maintenance.
