About The Role:

As an RF Engineer at Apolink, you’ll support the design, development, and test of our space-based RF communications system, including satellite-to-ground and intersatellite RF links. You’ll work closely with the systems team and report directly to the Lead RF Architect.

Responsibilities:

  • RF payload design and validation; including SDR integration, link budgets, and performance modeling

  • Running link simulation and analysis (LEO–LEO and LEO–ground)

  • Design and bring-up of RF boards (filters, LNAs, mixers, switches, power amps, etc.)

  • Test setup automation using Python (SCPI, PyVISA) for metrics like EVM, P1dB, SNR, ACLR

  • Hardware testing with VNAs, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, and SDRs

  • Antenna trade studies and performance validation

  • EMI/EMC compliance reviews, shielding, grounding strategies

  • Support for PDR, CDR, and pre-launch test campaigns

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

  • 2–5 years of experience in RF hardware development or satellite comms systems

  • Familiarity with RF performance metrics (EIRP, G/T, noise figure, group delay, IP3, etc.)

  • Hands-on experience with lab test equipment (VNA, spectrum analyzer, signal gen, etc.)

  • Proficiency with tools such as Altium, MATLAB, Python, PyVISA

  • Experience building and testing SDR-based systems

  • Working knowledge of antenna types and RF path loss in space environments

  • Ability to work in-person or willingness to relocate to Palo Alto, CA

  • Willingness to travel for work

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation at Apolink is determined based on role, level, location, and alignment with market benchmarks. Individual base salary is assessed on a case-by-case basis, reflecting job-related experience, technical expertise, and overall fit.
