About Pincites

Pincites is an AI contract negotiation assistant embedded in Microsoft Word. We help legal teams review and redline contracts faster. You can read more at pincites.com.

We’re an early stage startup (YC S23) with great investors and early traction. Our customers include tech unicorns and organizations you know. We’ve doubled our revenue in the first three months of 2024 and are at an inflection point in our growth.

About our team

Our founders combine experience from big law, big tech, and high-growth startups.

  • Sona is a practiced attorney with expertise in transactional law and intellectual property. She has a background as a strategic consultant in legal tech, where she helped companies automate their internal processes for almost three years.
  • Mariam worked as a software engineer at Meta and as a senior PM at GitHub, where she led teams building security products.
About the role
Skills: Prompt Engineering, Go, React, TypeScript, Google Cloud, SQL, Docker, Software Architecture, PostgreSQL

We’re looking for a sharp, ambitious engineer fluent in building AI-native products—someone who knows how to integrate LLMs, design intuitive prompt-based UX, and build around the quirks of AI behavior.

At Pincites, you’ll be responsible for the development and scaling of our web app and Word add-in, as well as new products crucial in automating contract negotiations. You’ll have a front-row seat at a fast-growth AI startup, building the future of contract negotiations.

About Pincites

At Pincites, we’re building an AI-native contract negotiation platform for legal and procurement teams. Our product lives inside Microsoft Word and helps teams negotiate faster and more consistently. It learns how top teams—like Ramp or Redis—negotiate today, then automates that workflow with AI-generated redlines and comments tailored to their playbook.

With support from top investors like Nat Friedman, General Catalyst, Liquid 2 Ventures, and Y Combinator, we’ve generated significant annual recurring revenue and serve legal teams globally. We're on a high-growth trajectory, aiming to build a billion-dollar company.

We are venture-funded, in the seed stage, and assembling a world-class team. As a member of our founding team, you’ll join us on this exciting ride with a meaningful stake in the action.

About You

As an early engineer at Pincites, you'll be building and scaling our web app and Word add-in—plus launching new AI-powered tools that automate legal workflows for thousands of companies.

We move fast, ship daily, and care deeply about quality. You’ll work directly with the founders and have a front-row seat at a high-growth startup that’s reshaping how legal work gets done.

Who you are

  • You’re passionate about quality. You care about clean code, thoughtful UX, and building workflows that work intuitively
  • You have great product sense. You think about users first—and how they’ll experience every detail you ship
  • You’re a self-starter. You take ownership, thrive in ambiguity, and are energized by building from zero
  • You’re a great colleague. You give feedback, review code carefully, and level up the people around you
  • You don’t wait for orders. You see something broken or missing, and you jump in to fix it

What we're looking for

  • 3–10 years building and scaling production-grade backends
  • Fluent in Go (or another typed language) and SQL
  • Strong with PostgreSQL (bonus: pgvector)
  • Experience designing scalable APIs and backend systems
  • Familiar with LLM integrations, embeddings, and vector search
  • Experience building agentic workflows and AI-powered backend logic
  • Willing to go full-stack when needed (with React, TypeScript)
  • You write well-tested, maintainable code and catch issues early
  • Expert with AI tools like Cursor and Claude Code to speed you up
  • Bonus: experience with GCP and serverless infra

Why Join

  • Own core product decisions from day one
  • Work directly with the founders—zero bureaucracy, high impact
  • Accelerate your career in a role with real scope and autonomy
  • Competitive salary + full benefits (health, dental, remote-friendly)
  • Join a team that ships fast, sweats the details, and actually loves building

Our Founders

We’re led by a technology and privacy attorney with extensive big law and legal tech experience. She’s a verified expert in building and implementing technology for legal teams. Her cofounder led security product teams at GitHub and was a fast-track Meta engineer. We have legal, FAANG, and startup experience nailed to a tee.

Technology

Anyone can build an AI-powered demo. The technical challenges come when you try to build a product customers love.

  • We push the limits of what the AI can do. Getting the best out of LLMs requires orchestrating complicated chains of requests using prompts that have been methodically developed. We benchmark and iterate our prompts to achieve results others can't match.
  • We integrate with our users' current tools. For lawyers that means Microsoft Word, and we're not afraid of becoming experts in technologies like OOXML or officejs to better serve them. It's the difference between a good experience and a great one.
  • We sweat the details to build a great product. We keep things fast with hundred of parallel request to OpenAI, keep them intuitive with constant iteration of our frontend, and keep them reliable by fixing every bug customers experience.

To power the above we keep it simple with our tech stack:

  • React / TypeScript for our web frontend and Word add-in
  • Go for our backend API
  • PostgreSQL with pgvector for our data store
  • GCP and Vercel for our backend and frontend hosting
  • OpenAI as our foundation model provider
