About Oway

Oway is popularizing a completely new way to affordably ship up to 8 pallets across long distances, cutting out warehousing transfers along the way. It's a huge problem - almost half of all truck space goes unused in the $900B+ US trucking industry, while small businesses are forced to pay high freight cost simply due to their low volume.

About the role

Oway is an AI-driven rideshare freight platform back by Y Combinator and top-tier investors of Uber, Flexport, Convoy and more, and we're on a mission to reinvent freight using AI to dynamically fill unused capacity in trucking. We’ve created a large marketplace of carriers and businesses that engage with each other to ship LTL-style freight using FTL vehicles - also known as partial truckload shipping.

We’re looking for the absolute best FTL carrier brokers and FTL relationship managers — people who’ve spent time at brokerages, 3PLs or company departments that source and develop carrier relationships — to help us scale our national carrier base and lock in recurring lanes. If you live and breathe freight and love building relationships with owner-operators and fleets, we want to talk.

What You'll Do

  • Source and onboard qualified FTL and partial carriers into Oway’s network using our in-house software tools — especially for high-volume lanes like CA → TX, CA → FL, CA → WA, CA → IL, backhauls and more.
  • Manage relationships with fleets ranging from 30 to 1000+ vehicles.
  • Help expand our dynamic freight pool by matching carriers with algorithmically optimized loads and bundling opportunities, and make partial freight more accessible for carriers.
  • Educate carriers on our app-based onboarding, automated load offering, digital BOL/POD, and automated payments systems.
  • Act as a partner to operations, sales, and product as we refine our nationwide carrier network.

What We're Looking For

  • 3+ years at a freight brokerage or 3PL in a carrier-facing role (e.g. Carrier Sales Rep, Capacity Rep, Truckload Procurement)
  • Have experience with a clear funnel of onboarding carriers and intuitively working around individual humps and roadblocks without needing heavy guidance.
  • Deep understanding of FTL/partial load dynamics, especially working with med-sized fleets (not owner operators).
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills; able to keep carriers loyal with recurring freight.
  • Knows how to get carriers moving with quick pay, factoring, and incentive strategies.
  • Bonus if you’ve worked with ELD integrations, load boards, or routing platforms.
Technology

Optimizing routing + mapping protocols using machine learning to find the most efficient matches between truckers and shipments. Developing ML algorithms for optimized pricing. Designing innovative, colorful UX/UI for businesses and drivers to use. Using LLMs to enhance UX + customer service. Developing APIs for integrations for ERPs as well as other companies that want to build off of Oway. Building mobile apps. Pioneering new, low friction ways for drivers to maximize their ability to make Oway rideshare pickups. Brainstorming and developing tools to make the lives of drivers and businesses easier (mapping, workflow, community, etc.)

Interview Process

We’ll be hosting a short, multi-step interview process.

  1. Meeting our Head of Partnerships to get to know each other, your skillset and experience.
  2. Meeting with our CEO and Founder, Phillip. Please be prepared to bring references / leads to carrier fleets that you have worked with that may be a fit for Oway’s expansion plan. You will not be required to share them, but we do want to see that you have a strong book of business.
