About Us

Metal is building the world’s most powerful intelligence platform for private market investors. We support deal teams throughout the diligence lifecycle — from market research and sourcing to evaluation and close. Top-tier funds like Berkshire Partners already rely on Metal to move faster and make smarter investment decisions.

We’re growing quickly — expanding our platform and customer base — and we’re just getting started.

If you're excited to transform how private investors work, collaborate, and make decisions, we’d love to meet you.

The Role

We’re looking for a Frontend Engineer to lead the design and development of interfaces that feel magical — fast, intuitive, and AI-native. This is a high-impact role working closely with Metal’s founders, GTM team, and fellow engineers to push the boundaries of what’s possible with large language models and real-time investor workflows.

You’ll work across the stack (primarily in React (Next.js) and Tailwind CSS) to build powerful, elegant user experiences. You'll also have the opportunity to integrate directly with our GenAI infrastructure — including a Vespa-powered vector database, agents platform, and more — helping define new UI paradigms that make our intelligence platform feel like an extension of our users' minds.

What You'll Do

  • Own core parts of the frontend stack and user interface
  • Collaborate with design and product to rapidly prototype new AI-native workflows
  • Implement clean, maintainable components with Next.js, Tailwind, and React
  • Contribute to system-wide architecture decisions as we scale
  • Work across the stack (FE, API, etc) to deliver seamless experiences
  • Drive performance, accessibility, and usability improvements
  • Shape the company’s engineering culture and standards as an early team member

What We’re Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience building modern web applications
  • Deep expertise in React, Next.js, and component-driven UI design
  • Strong design sensibility and attention to detail
  • Excited by fast iteration and rapid prototyping
  • Passion for performance and pushing the limits of browser-based UX
  • Experience working with or around AI products is a plus
  • Entrepreneurial mindset — proactive, adaptable, and outcome-oriented
  • Based in NYC or open to relocating — we believe great product gets built in person

Our Stack

  • Frontend: React (Next.js), Tailwind CSS
  • Backend: Go, MongoDB
  • AI infra: Vespa.ai, Model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc), Agent orchestration
  • Infra: Vercel, AWS, GitHub Actions

Benefits & Compensation

We believe in hiring great people and rewarding them with competitive compensation. For this role, you can expect:

  • Salary: $150,000 – $180,000 USD, depending on experience
  • Equity: Meaningful early-stage ownership in Metal
  • Health Benefits: Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
