Senior Computer Vision Engineer

The Role

Shinkei reshores American seafood. We are a robotics startup based in El Segundo, California. We deliver higher quality, better tasting, and longer-lasting fish through innovative robotics solutions. Our technology integrates computer vision and advanced mechanisms to assist fishermen in fish processing, enhancing efficiency and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Optimize data collection, labeling, processing, and evaluation for our fish detection models, helping to improve accuracy and performance.
• Combine strong software engineering principles with machine learning to build robust end-to-end machine learning workflows
• Work closely with cross-functional teams across the company to understand their needs, weigh trade-offs, and achieve measurable results
• Advocate for best practices in scalability, operational efficiency, cost management, and system reliability
• Provide technical leadership and guidance that shapes the future of Shinkei

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

• Has a passion for maintaining well-organized ML models and ensuring data collection is structured and reproducible.
• Thrives in a collaborative environment and enjoys working with cross-functional teams.
• Can break down complex technical concepts and communicate them clearly to different audiences.
• Loves learning new technologies and applying them to solve real-world challenges.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, SE, EE, Robotics, or a related Field
• 4+ years of industry software engineering experience working on ML/CV related problems
• Experience deploying CV models in production environments

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced degree in computer science or related field
• Experience in MLOps in building, deploying, and maintaining models
• Experience in managing teams of labelers
• Has strong opinions on labeling, deployment, and evaluation platforms
• Familiarity with frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, or related frameworks
