About K-Scale Labs

We're building friendly open-source humanoid robots.

About the role

Our mission at K-Scale Labs is to build a world with billions of general-purpose robots. We work on every component of the stack—hardware, software, and ML models—and open-source them to ensure the benefits of real-world embodied intelligence is shared by everyone.

Over the past year, we have gone from 3D printed prototypes to fully functional CNC machined 6061 aluminium humanoid. Our mission is make humanoids commonplace and accelerate humanity’s progress up the kardashev scale. Over the next 6-12 months, we will ship hundreds of humanoid robots to consumers.

We are looking for an engineer that is self-motivated and deeply passionate about K-Scale mission. You will play an instrumental role in transforming robotics as it will be known.

In this founding electrical engineer role, you will take large ownership of critical components in the testing, analysis, and design for production at scale.

Responsibility

  • Design, review, and validate schematics and PCB layouts for power distribution boards, CAN actuator control board, as well as custom actuator control boards, including motor drivers, current sensing, and feedback integration
  • Support bring-up and debugging of power systems, sensors, and actuator subsystems across multiple hardware revisions
  • Assist in refining electrical designs for manufacturability, robustness, and regulatory compliance (e.g., EMC)
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers to tune motor control, sensor feedback loops, and ensure reliable communication over CAN, UART, or other protocols
  • Work with firmware team to debug, quantify, and validate performance in-house or in on-site settings

Requirements

  • Proven project experience in schematic & layout design for PCB's using Altium Designer or equivalent software(s)
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, EMI/EMC, and debugging unexpected electrical behavior in complex electromechanical systems
  • Hands-on experience with low-voltage (<60V) power distribution, DC/DC converters, and motor control circuits (including gate drivers, MOSFETs, and passive components)
  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems: motors, actuators, sensors, wire harnesses, and communication protocols (CAN, UART, SPI etc.)
  • Proficient with lab tools: oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, bus sniffers (e.g., CANalyzer, Saleae)
  • Experience designing robust electromechanical systems, including wire harness design, connector selection, grounding, and EMI mitigation

Bonus Qualifications

  • Proficiency in C or Rust
  • Experience working with Nvidia Jetson line of products, such as Orin Nano and Orin NX
  • Experience simulating power electronic circuits
  • Knowledge of lithium-based battery systems and BMS design and validation
Technology

Our tech stack is PyTorch, some 3D printers and thinking really hard.
