About You

We're looking for an innovative Software Engineer II — someone who wants to spend all day designing and implementing high leverage technical processes and systems. We value hands-on experience and a relentless drive to push personal boundaries.

Our dream candidate can effortlessly adapt to different domains and is fueled by a passion for tackling complex problems head-on. Whether you've built your expertise designing scaled systems at large companies, or scaling startups from 0 to 100, we want to hear your story.

What You'll Do

  • Design advanced logistics algorithms and Electronic Health Record (EHR) integrations
  • Rearchitect technical systems to scale by 1000x and improve reliability from 99.9% to 99.99%
  • Empower customers to build API integrations with the Axle Heath ecosystem
  • Collaborate with internal teams and customers to gain insights and translate those insights into world class products
  • Evaluate and prioritize between tasks and projects based on their strategic value and potential impact

Must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field
  • 2-5 years of experience in a SWE role (or equivalent)
  • Experience defining and communicating technical trade offs to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience conducting code reviews yourself
  • Experience mentoring and/or managing junior engineers on the above skills
  • Expertise in an industry-standard programming language (preferably JS and Python)
  • Experience designing, building, deploying, and maintaining web services
  • Experience writing applications which interact with databases (Postgres, MySQL, NoSQL)
  • Expertise in a modern web framework (React, Angular, etc.)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD, DevOps, and Build Systems

Nice to have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in CS or an equivalent technical field
  • Experience teaching yourself new skills and technologies
  • Experience working with Electronic Health Records (EHRs)
  • Experience with healthcare interoperability (FHIR)
  • Experience with our existing programming languages and tools

What We Offer

In addition to offering a competitive salary and best-in-class equity, we want to ensure every team member has the tools they need to work to the best of their ability. To that end:

We are committed to your Ownership:

  • We cultivate an environment where team members feel ownership over the work they do. Everyone in an organization has big ideas and we want to hear them and implement them
  • All of our employees have equity compensation. We want you to benefit from all the hard work you do in helping patients and catalyzing this shift in healthcare.

We are committed to your Wellness:

  • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, Vision
  • Unlimited PTO and sick days
  • Flexible working hours

We are committed to your Growth:

  • Fast paced work environment geared towards professional growth
  • Get the chance to move roles within the organization to learn new skills and contribute in other areas

We are committed to building Community:

  • Monthly team events, dinners, & happy hours
  • Special team events: yacht party, Universal Studios, Magic Castle, Vegas, etc.

Healthcare is complex, healthcare in the home even more so. Part of the reason in-home care isn't widespread is because it's not economical without a heavy technological component. Providing economical in-home care is a series of optimization problems. How do you assign visits to the lowest cost health professional qualified for a visit? How do you account for different license requirements across states? How do you ensure visits that require refrigerated supplies are completed earlier in the day? Solving this 3-dimensional tradeoff between time, geography, and licensure is what we do day-in and day-out.
