About Stacker

Mission-Oriented People Wanted

We've got a big mission: we want to give everybody the ability to create software, whether they can code or not. And it's no secret that we've got a long way to go to get there. That's why we're not looking for consultants, contractors or general mercenaries. If you're passionate about making change in the world, this might be the place for you. 🚀

We're Solving Hard Problems. Really.

We know, we know: basically every tech startup says this. But I think we've got a pretty decent claim.

We're building an app runtime that lets you specify an entire app in a bunch of JSON config and have it run as a real-time single page app.

We're taking the features common across all web apps and turning them into installable modules that work seamlessly together.

We're trying to not only create one product that is intuitive and beautiful, but a flexible design-system to allow our users to build apps that are beautiful by default and are customisable to the finest level.

And that's all before breakfast. 💪

We've Made A Start, But It's Still Early.

This isn't some mad dream. We've already made a great start. We have hundreds of organizations using Stacker apps today that they've created themselves, and we've just got funded by Initialized Capital.

However, we are still really early (currently 4 engineers). This is the right time to join to have a profound impact on how we take this to the next level.

Come And Work From Wherever You Are

We've always been a remote team — not corona-remote but remote by choice.

We get together three or four times per year, but apart from that, we do all our work remotely, via Slack, Notion, and Zoom. We like it that way.

Whatever Your Background

We want to build a team with as diverse perspectives, skills, passions and backgrounds as we can.

We're not worried about the number of years you've worked or how much formal education you've had. We're looking for bright, kind and passionate people who care about bringing the power of software to the world.

👉If you're excited about our mission, but worried that you don't have enough experience, or won't fit in, please apply anyway! 👈

About the role
Skills: JavaScript, Kubernetes, Python, TypeScript

Our Mission 🚀

Stacker is on a mission to let anyone create software, by building a platform to let you instantly create apps from the data you already have. We were founded in 2017, and are backed by Y Combinator and Initialized Capital, two of the most successful start-up programs in the world that have produced companies including Airbnb, Stripe and Reddit. 🤩

We want to change the way software is built...that's a pretty big task, and we've got some exciting problems to solve.

The Role 🔎

We're looking to hire our first ever Growth Engineer to help take Stacker to the next level! Working as part of a growth team, you'll be focussing on using data and experimentation to improve part of our product flow.

Think of it like this: while our Product Teams are working on increasing the core benefit of our product, the Growth Teams are working to make sure as many people as possible experience the core benefit!

Your Responsibilities 🖥

Optimising a particular area of the Stacker offering - this could be activation, retention, expansion or referrals Devising and executing experiments and iterating on our product offering to improve our metrics Collaborate with tech, product and marketing teams on overall strategy Shipping improvements weekly, if not daily, which are used immediately by our users to make their apps work better and do more Requirements

Great full-stack programming skills Solid knowledge of current web technologies Analytical mind applying scientific rigour through build/measure/learn cycles Strong understanding of how to manipulate, analyse and interpret complex data Experience implementing new flows and setting up A/B testing You'd really stand out if you have some of the following:

Experience working in a growth team or growth engineering role Python or JavaScript skills Experience with data pipelines, warehousing and reporting systems Deep understanding of SEO/SEM, social and viral mechanics SaaS product exposure Benefits

Competitive base salary 💰 Work remotely from anywhere in Europe/Africa 🌍 36 days annual leave (including any local public holidays) ✈️ Stock options 📈 IT equipment paid for by Stacker 💻 We're looking for an ambitious candidate who's business focussed and passionate about product optimisation. This is a unique opportunity as one of our first growth hires...if this sounds like you then we'd love to hear from you!

Technology

You know the general drill. React frontend, Python backend. Postgres, Memcached and everything running on docker/k8s.

We're looking for someone who's about more than just writing software. You should expect to spend as much time thinking about the tough product problems as the tough technical problems.

You should love about thinking about things from the point of view of the user, and enjoy working out how a particular feature fits within our overall product strategy.

If that sounds like you, then apply!
