We build stuff that goes to space and back, we move fast and break stuff.
As a Structures Engineering Intern, you will work directly with Reditus Space’s engineering team to design, analyze, and test the primary and secondary structural systems of the ENOS vehicle. You will contribute to the design of flight hardware intended for launch, on-orbit operation, and controlled re-entry, gaining hands-on experience in spacecraft structural design and validation. Responsibilities
• Support the design, analysis, and documentation of ENOS vehicle structural components and assemblies.
• Perform preliminary and detailed stress analysis (hand calculations and FEA) for metallic and composite structures.
• Assist in material selection, fastener design, and structural configuration trades.
• Contribute to the preparation of environmental qualification test plans (vibe, shock, thermal-vacuum, reentry loads).
• Build and maintain CAD models and drawings (OnShape).
• Participate in subsystem integration reviews and interface definition with other teams (propulsion, avionics, thermal).
• Support hardware fabrication, integration, and test campaigns as needed.
Qualifications
• Currently pursuing a B.S. or M.S. in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Structural Engineering (senior undergraduate or graduate level).
• Coursework or project experience in structural mechanics, materials, and finite element analysis.
• Familiarity with CAD tools (SolidWorks, NX, or similar) and FEA packages (ANSYS, Nastran, Abaqus, etc.).
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to translate requirements into hardware solutions.
• Passion for space systems and hands-on engineering.
Preferred Skills
• Experience with lightweight aerospace structures (e.g., aluminum alloys, composites, Inconel, titanium).
• Exposure to space environment considerations (launch loads, reentry heating, vibration, shock).
• Familiarity with design standards and verification methods for flight hardware.
• Previous internship, research, or project experience with space hardware.
