About Toma

At Toma, we’re building something unorthodox—a fully AI-driven platform reshaping how 18,000 car dealerships operate nationwide.

Our small team (from ex-Scale AI/Uber founders who’ve never owned cars, to a pro Valorant player, robotics champion, motocross racer, and more) spent months living and breathing dealerships to learn the ropes.

About the role

Why Toma

Toma is the automotive industry’s leading agentic AI workforce, starting with voice AI agents for sales and service call operations. Our voice AI product, built entirely in-house with cutting-edge large language models (LLMs), reaches millions of vehicle owners each month. As the darling startup in the automotive space, we have recently raised our Series A with Andreessen Horowitz and Y Combinator, and are rapidly expanding our customer base.

We’re a small team of former founders, athletes, and leaders from Scale AI, Uber, Braze, Microsoft, Amazon, Columbia, and acquired companies in the automotive industry who simply love winning. Autonomy is not recommended, but a table-stakes requirement, and we work very hard to maintain our lead. Our team is hybrid, with our headquarters in a brand-new two-story office in Potrero Hill, San Francisco.

Our team and product remain lean because we are incredibly customer-oriented: we frequently travel the country to meet with and learn from our customers. To this day, most of our customers have been referred to us through word of mouth. With our unique advantage and fast momentum in this $2 trillion market, we are poised to take Toma to the next level.

About this Role

We are ready to expand our footprint by embedding Toma in OEM-approved vendor programs and co-op catalogs. As VP of OEM Relations, you will be the face of Toma to the automakers—steering strategy, securing co-op approval, and turning national programs (whether administered by partners or the OEM directly) into a repeatable growth engine. You will report to the CEO and build a small, high-impact team as traction scales.

Toma is the AI leader in the automotive industry because we have built highly customizable voice AI and agents from the ground up to solve for any customer use-cases.

Responsibilities

  • Drive OEM Strategy: Develop and execute a 3-year roadmap targeting high-impact OEMs and Tier-1 suppliers, securing program inclusion, co-op funding, and preferred-vendor status.

  • Lead Partner Engagements: Serve as the executive point of contact across OEM relationships—guiding initiatives from pilot to national launch while translating partner needs into product, data, and reporting deliverables.

  • Own Revenue Growth: Manage OEM-sourced pipeline, forecasting, and P&L; design commercial models that align incentives and accelerate dealer adoption.

  • Champion Cross-Functional Execution: Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Customer Success to localize voice AI solutions and co-develop launch assets tailored to each OEM ecosystem.

  • Evangelize Industry Leadership: Represent Toma at major automotive events and OEM forums; deliver thought leadership on voice AI and fixed-ops innovation.

  • Build and Lead a High-Impact Team: Recruit, mentor, and scale a top-tier OEM partnerships team with a culture rooted in data-driven execution and dealer-first thinking.

Required Qualifications

  • Industry Experience: 10+ years in the automotive ecosystem, with a focus on OEMs, Tier-1 suppliers, or dealership technology platforms.

  • OEM Program Ownership: Minimum 5 years managing OEM programs, co-op funding structures, or certified vendor relationships.

  • Track Record of Success: Demonstrated ability to launch or scale technology or fixed-ops solutions via OEM, Shift Digital, or Tier-10 channels, consistently exceeding revenue and adoption targets.

  • Commercial Acumen: Proven experience negotiating complex, multi-year commercial agreements including data security, compliance, and incentive models.

  • Technical Fluency: Strong ability to communicate AI, telephony, and integration capabilities in OEM-compliant language; capable of navigating technical conversations across engineering and partner teams.

  • Leadership: Built and led cross-functional teams; brings executive presence with both C-level and field-level stakeholders.

  • Analytical Rigor: Proficient in CRM and BI tools to manage pipeline, forecast revenue, track KPIs, and optimize program performance.

  • Travel Readiness: Willing to travel 30–40% for partner meetings, dealer councils, and industry events.

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • OEM Channel Expertise: Experience working directly with or through platforms like CDK, Reynolds, Xtime, Shift Digital, or Tier-10.

  • After-Sales Knowledge: Deep understanding of OEM dealer incentive structures, after-sales service operations, and digital vendor certification processes.

  • Executive Influence: Strong industry network and a history of participating in fixed-ops forums, OEM summits, or certification review boards.

  • Advanced Degree: MBA or similar advanced degree strongly preferred.

Don’t think you meet all the qualifications? Apply anyway. We’d love to hear what excites you about us, and we may have a role that's a good fit for you.
