About Zaymo

Zaymo turns ecommerce emails into shoppable landing pages. Now, people can purchase items without leaving the inbox.

We also support other, similarly valuable actions in the email.

Focused on ecommerce merchants for the time being.

About the role
Skills: React, TypeScript

Founding Engineer

TL;DR: We've already grown 3x this year, work with the world's largest e-commerce brands, and are building the best engineering team in Utah. We're looking for a founding engineer to help scale Zaymo from 1M to 100M and beyond.

What is Zaymo?

Zaymo lets ecommerce marketers send emails that behave like websites. This enables in-email actions like one-click-purchasing, survey responses, and review collection that significantly increase conversion rates.

Zaymo is backed by investors like Y Combinator, the co-founder of YouTube, and others

Why Zaymo:

  • 🚀 Rapid Growth: We’ve already tripled this year and are on track for profitability.
  • 🛠️ Engineering Excellence: We’re solving the most challenging problems in ecommerce email marketing.
  • 📈 Product-Driven: We prioritize product quality, innovation, and speed.
  • 💼 Career Accelerator: Accelerate your career faster here than anywhere else.
  • 🌟 Inbound Success: Proven product-market fit, with 100% of customers coming to us inbound.

What would make you stand out:

  1. 2+ years of full-stack development experience at early-stage startups.
  2. Proficiency in TypeScript and React.
  3. Positive attitude, preference for shipping fast, ambition, and collaborative personality
  4. If you happen to be a wizard at raw HTML/CSS/AMP that would be nice. If not, we’ll teach you.

Benefits:

  • Customized benefits package tailored to your needs (we're flexible!)
  • Competitive salary with meaningful equity.
  • Relocation assistance for moving to Utah.
  • Significant responsibility, impact, and recognition as a founding engineer.

Culture:

Please understand and agree with our values before applying:

  • In-person work. Nothing replaces the energy of in-person working. No remote/hybrid.
  • A-players only. Only A-players can hire A-players. We'd rather hire 1 A-player and pay an above-market amount (that someone is very happy with) than hire 3 B-players and pay market.
  • Fast firing. If someone isn't an A player, we part ways quickly. Please be okay with this. We do paid trials to help derisk this.
  • Drive. You're hungry to do what it takes to win. You likely have a massive chip on the shoulder.
  • Excellence. You value excellence in everything you do. You believe you can be excellent at work and at home.
  • Grind. We work/text on Saturdays (Sundays off) and at night. It's ok to send messages at 3am.
  • Urgency. Do in a day what usually takes weeks. Run through walls to get things done. Respond in minutes (or seconds) instead of hours.
  • Shameless. Be extremely annoying if it means winning. Check-in on things 10x daily. Double (or quadruple) text if someone hasn't responded. Call them too.
  • Flat company org. Titles reflect scope. No political promotion games.
  • Constantly Up-skilling. Sharpen the saw daily. If not, you know you’re obsolete in a year. You use Cursor Pro.
Technology

We invented a code framework that works inside of emails. Engineers at Zaymo found ways to use AMP, HTML, and CSS to mimick the functionality of Javascript. This essentially unlocks API calls from within the email.

Interview Process

We have a thorough process but move very fast. Here is a rough outline of what to expect

  1. Screening Call
  2. Technical Interview with Santi
  3. Technical and Behavior Interview with Danny
  4. Onsite with the team
  5. Potential for work trial
