Video creation is undergoing a massive transition. When video production first started, only studios with large budgets could create compelling videos. Then, with handheld cameras and smartphones, millions of people gained the ability to create great videos. Sites like Youtube, Tiktok, and Instagram are flooded with wonderful user-created videos today.
Generative AI is continuing this 100+ year trend of democratizing video creation to all. Instead of needing to go out and film, users can create videos from just text prompts! However, it's not easy to use this technology... There are complicated hardware requirements, constant research improvements, and too much randomness with the outputs.
Decohere is building a purpose-built tool for video creation to solve all these problems. Our tool gives users an intuitive interface and unique controls over the video generation process. It eliminates all requirements and lets our users simply get to work creating their ideal video.
Most importantly, video is about to undertake an inflection point. Video generation is starting to reach out of the "Uncanny Valley" and provide real value to the billions of creators and consumers of videos worldwide. Moments like this do not come often, and we at Decohere want to ensure that we can guide these incredible technologies to users in the most powerful and helpful way.
Decohere is re-imagining what it means to make image and video in the era of Generative AI. We are hiring a Founding Fullstack Engineer to work on our web app. We're looking for a fullstack generalist who feels comfortable working across UI/UX design, frontend dev, and infra. AI/ML experience not required.
You will be joining a small team and have an outsized impact on the direction of the product. This is NOT a pre-revenue startup: we have tens of thousands of daily active users and are growing quickly month-over-month.
Decohere is building best-in-class product and infrastructure to support real-time generative AI. We enable our customers to iterate towards their creative vision without waiting for long-running GPU jobs.
We believe AI video is quickly approaching an inflection point where video generation will be breaking out of the uncanny valley. At Decohere we move fast to keep up with the bleeding edge, while focusing on building the best possible experience for our customers.

We have a 3-step interview process.
The first step is a 30-minute behavior call, typically conducted over Google Meet. This call is where we first get to know you, hear about your background, and gives you an opportunity to learn a little more about Decohere. Be prepared to talk about your past work experience, projects, or anything else you think we should know.
The second step is a 1-hour technical interview. In this step, expect to do some live coding on a mock problem. We use Replit for our live coding, so that both the interviewer and interviewee can interact in the same workspace. For this interview, expect to work iteratively through a simple problem as it's requirements change and grow more complex over the hour.
Our final step is coming in to the Decohere office in Seattle (Cap Hill) to work with the team. Expect to work on a large and ambiguous task for the day. We'll grab lunch as a team, and you'll get a feel for what an average day is like at Decohere.
We know that not everybody does a full day in person like this as part of the interview process, but we think this is the most important step for both parties. Joining a startup is not a light commitment, so we want you to know exactly what you're getting in to. We also believe that working next to someone for a day is the best way to gauge their skills - much better than a 1-hour live coding exercise.
If you are not already based in Seattle, we'll arrange transportation for this step.
