The Cambly app gives English learners instant 1-on-1 access to friendly native speakers over video chat 24/7. Cambly students speak over 30 languages and live in over 130 countries. English isn’t just a hobby for Cambly students. It’s a critical skill that can change their lives.

About Cambly:  Our mission is to bring high quality English education to every English learner in the world at the touch of a button. Think of us as the Airbnb that matches English students with English tutors and come help us build the world’s largest English learning marketplace and school. 

You'll be joining a small but growing team. As an engineering manager, you'll lead a team to drive impact across a significant portion of the product. We're looking for someone who is excited about helping our students, and our engineers grow and learn.

Our Engineering Teams:

• Growth: Develop features that help new students discover Cambly
• Learning Experience: Building a the best English-learning experience.
• Matching: Connect students with the best tutor for their learning style.
• Marketplace: Build a healthy marketplace, balancing the needs of our students and tutors.
• Payments: Ensuring our students can subscribe to Cambly, anywhere in the world.

Things we're looking for:

• 10+ years of software engineering experience
• 3+ years leading an engineering team
• Experience working cross-functionally, especially with product managers
• Experience with our tech stack (mongodb, flask/python, react/redux) or similar technologies

What you'll do on a day to day:

• Work cross-functionally with design, engineering, and product management to own the team’s vision and strategy.
• Help set team goals and technical direction while ensuring that they align with the goals of the larger organization.
• Build and foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
