doola is looking to make its first recruiting hire to take on the challenge of rapidly growing our global company by hiring for critical roles in engineering, design, marketing, sales, operations, and more.

What you will do

  • Proven track record: You have a track record of prior success in a startup environment or an agency where you have been able to generate a pipeline and run recruiting end to end.
  • Build processes: You enjoy creating order out of chaos and creating systems to take our recruiting from 0 to 1. The systems you build will help us scale from 10s to 100s and beyond.
  • Manage the full cycle: You can see things through and aren't afraid to run the entire process independently. Your job will be to manage full-cycle recruiting for all open positions.
  • Think strategically: Hiring is tougher than ever, and the top candidates will always have a plethora of options to choose from. How can we be unique and think strategically to engage, attract, and close the best talent globally? An all-star in this role will make this happen.
  • Provide delight : First impressions matter and you will often times be the very first interaction with candidates. The same way we wow customers globally, we need to do the same for any candidate who takes the time to consider doola and provide them with a delightful and magical experience.

Who you are

  • You're a problem solver. We don't care if you're a year out of school or it's been twenty years since you graduated.
  • You're a self-starter and get the startup grind. Work will be ambiguous at times but the challenge of finding order in the chaos and working autonomously if need be excites you. You are proactive and do not need to be micromanaged. In other words, this is not the kind of job where you show up and are told exactly what to do every day.
  • You have experience with full-cycle recruiting and are comfortable stepping in to a startup as the first recruiting hire to take our system from 0 to 1: this includes sourcing, strategic ways to find all-star talent, scheduling and coordinating interviews, managing candidate resources, and communications, and helping the team make decisions on how to scale doola.

Technology

To get a sense of the technology we use at our company, and the hard/interesting technical problems we're solving, here is what we look for in full stack engineers:

  • Thoughtful problem-solving: For you, problem-solving starts with a clear and accurate understanding of the context. You can decompose tricky problems and work towards a clean solution, by yourself or with teammates. You're comfortable asking for help when you get stuck.
  • Shipping quality user interfaces: You can work with others to build and maintain quality user interfaces for a big audience, using Web technologies like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and a modern UI framework like React. If you've experienced the technical challenges of rapid growth, that's a plus.
  • Familiarity with the backend: You understand how parts of a system fit together—from the user interface to the data model. Experienced candidates should be familiar with relational and document-oriented database systems like MySQL and MongoDB.
  • Pragmatic and business-oriented: You care about the business impact of what you're building, and you prioritize projects accordingly. You're not just going after cool stuff—you understand the balance between craft, speed, and the bottom line.
  • Put users first: You think critically about the implications of what you're building and how it shapes real people's lives. You understand that reach comes with responsibility for our impact—good and bad.
  • Not ideological about technology: To you, technologies and programming languages are about tradeoffs. You may be opinionated, but you're not ideological and can learn new technologies as you go.
  • Empathetic communication: You communicate nuanced ideas clearly, whether you're explaining technical decisions in writing or brainstorming in real-time. In disagreements, you engage thoughtfully with other perspectives and compromise when needed.
  • Team player: You understand when work is better, together. You enjoy collaborating cross-functionally to accomplish shared goals, and you care about learning, growing, and helping others to do the same.
  • Bonus points: You're proficient with any part of our technology stack: React, TypeScript, Node.js, and MongoDB.
