Who we are

Mentorcam is a marketplace where people can access high-profile mentors for 1:1 advice and mentorship. Public figures and thought leaders are available for advice via short recorded videos. Via short video messages, we give people access to the mentors they look up to and admire. We are a seed-stage startup backed by General Catalyst, Goodwater Capital, and SNÖ Ventures to name a few. As a Business Development Representative

You will play a crucial part in Mentorcam's growth by leading conversations with startup founders about company creation, developing and scaling the business, and raising capital, as well as dialling into the founders' challenges in these areas and demonstrating how Mentorcam can help them with their needs.

You will be an advocate responsible for creating credibility, offering value to potential clients, and, ultimately, helping Mentorcam establish a stronger presence in the tech and startup ecosystem.

You’ll also

  1. Qualify leads and engage with current clients to upsell
  2. Create and manage a database of all prospects and existing clients
  3. Have continuous follow-up with leads from different channels and sales efforts to ultimately close deals
  4. Help lead virtual product demos & customer success calls
  5. Create customized sales campaigns and support the marketing team to grab attention

About you

  1. You engage in meaningful conversations: As a Business Development Representative (BDR), you will be dedicated to listening carefully to potential customers in order to develop and lead an engaging conversation. To do so, you'll study and learn about subjects that impact founders, such as company formation, fundraising, customer acquisition, sales, and product development.

  2. You demonstrate value: In your conversations, you will lead with insights first and the product second. Instead of discussing what our product can do, you'll talk about how seasoned experts and mentors assist entrepreneurs develop successful firms. You'll tell a fascinating story about the hurdles that most founders face, followed by anecdotes about how our mentors have helped others overcome similar challenges.

  3. You prepare intentionally & proactively: To succeed, you must make it a mission to be at the top of your game every day. You must be able to efficiently manage your time and prepare in advance for calls and meetings so that you can fully concentrate on the person with whom you are speaking.

  4. You focus on long-term growth (not short-term sales): We are committed to meeting our monthly, quarterly, and annual targets and continuing to grow Mentorcam while providing exceptional customer service. We never compromise “just to make the sale” and believe that we can create value for us, for our clients, and for our investors.

  5. You’re curious & coachable: We think differently about many things, especially sales. Your responsibility is to be curious about how we are doing things and to be coachable by taking feedback seriously.

Experience

  • Understanding and analyzing the sales metric system
  • Great communication skills
  • Experience in creating and delivering on new processes, educational materials, and high quality presentations
  • Experience within the sales/marketing field (preferred)
  • Experience with tools such as Hubspot, Apollo, Customer.io, Salesforce software etc. (preferred)
  • ​​Proven work experience as a Business Development Representative (preferred)
  • Proven record of achieving a specific quota (preferred)
