Delphia is a growing (44 people), multi-disciplinary team located in the heart of downtown Toronto and around major North American cities. We began in January 2018 and are graduates of Y Combinator and the Creative Destruction Lab. We’ve raised two rounds of funding and approximately $20 million to date.

About this role:

Most of today’s successful technology companies have great user onboarding experience. At Delphia, it’s no different. We believe that a great onboarding experience is essential to user success and is business-critical. As part of the Delphia’s user onboarding, new users apply for an investment account, choose their investment portfolio, and link their bank, all while the product maintains trust, delight, and excitement.

Mastering the details of onboarding is a constant challenge because our potential audience is large, diverse, and sensitive to sharing personal information with a new startup. To grow our understanding, we experiment and iterate these flows to make sure we continuously deliver simple, accessible, and user-focused experiences. You will be instrumental in evolving these flows and crafting exceptional, impactful experiences.

What you'll be doing:

  • Explore, execute and iterate your designs to ship exceptional account creation experiences that set Delphia users up for success
  • Partnering with the Design Lead or Design leadership, you will implement the longer-term strategy for Accounts and onboarding by discovering the short-term experiments and iterations to reach your team goals.
  • Develop strong partnerships with direct team members in development and product to deliver high-quality experiences from zero to production
  • Participate in research planning and customer discovery to gain an understanding of customer motivations and behaviors for creating, funding, and using Delphia
  • Build an understanding and opinion around competitors and the broader Fin Tech industry to understand users’ opportunities
  • Participate in workshops to further innovation and understanding of user onboarding flows
  • Share design work regularly in Design Critiques and Reviews and help Design Team members by providing your feedback on their work.
  • Contribute to and impact the direction of the Delphia Design System through your work and collaboration

About you:

  • 3+ years of experience working with an in-house team at a customer-facing product company
  • Portfolio of work that shows your areas of expertise. Here’s our expectations on our Portfolio
  • Experience designing for mobile Apps (IOS and Android)
  • Strong Product sense; knowledge of onboarding
  • Experience designing products in the Fin Tech space is a plus.

Within one month, you will:

  • Familiarize yourself the tools, practices and processes of the Delphia design team.
  • Meet and build relationships within onboarding as a product area
  • Understand the current state of onboarding via product and data walkthroughs; Participate and moderate interviews with our customers at various points of onboarding
  • Assist in delivering an experiment or iteration to a section of the current account creation journey

Within six months, you will:

  • Define, research and deliver at least one major project for onboarding on your own
  • Present your work at Demos and Design Reviews. Able to articulate the context and story for onboarding.
  • Gain expertise in our Customer's mental models and motivations for using and continuing to use Delphia's products
  • Improvement documentation and team practices for the onboarding product area
  • Become an expert in testing and validating assumptions and solutions quickly, efficiently and at a high-quality

In your first year, you will:

  • Become knowledgeable enough to welcome and onboard the new hires to the team
  • Explore and contribute to new product areas beyond onboarding
  • Impact strategy and direction of business critical function at Delphia; Have numbers to tell the story of your success and evidence of learning from failures
