Skills & Experience

  • Have web development experience: Have worked 3+ years full-time as a web developer. Written & deployed web apps in 2 or more frameworks (React, NextJs, Vue, Angular etc). Open to 1+ years experience for exceptional candidates.
  • Can communicate very simply: Can explain complex concepts, bugs, code & logic to both engineers & non-engineers in a simple, concise, jargon-free language.
  • Have technical content experience: Have created developer facing content across multiple formats such as video, documentation, code samples & blog posts.
  • Are an active contributor on dev communities: Have been contributing on developer communities like Stackoverflow, Reddit, Github, Hacker news, etc.
  • Can work autonomously: Can break down problems & figure out solutions on your own & learn something you don’t have experience in.

Some examples of projects you could work on

  • Build & nurture developer community by building tutorial videos, crafting blog posts, delivering talks, building code samples, documentation, developer tools, and helping to define how our team works with that community.
  • Debug issues reported by customers and developers and help them become successful.
  • Explore novel ways to grow the developer ecosystem.
  • Collaborate with product & engineering teams to improve the platform based on developer community feedback.

Technology

We're building an SDK that adds a performant & robust multiplayer experience to any web app. We abstract away the infrastructure complexity for the developer. They have access to simple & beautiful APIs that gives them full control to make the UI feel native.

This is a highly complex and exciting problem.

Interview Process

Round 1: Two interviews with the founders (45 mins + 45 mins)

These two calls are about getting to know each other. We'll discuss what you're looking for and assess whether there is a mutual fit wrt role, company, culture, team, timing etc.

Round 2: One paid work week trial (Few hours)

We will provide you with a small project to work on for a week. You can work on this part time at your own pace. During this week you will have access to us, you can ping us if you have any questions. You will get paid on the completion of the project.

We don’t like abstract interview questions or tasks. Such interviews are generally very stressful as you feel constantly monitored and judged. Since this will be a long term relationship, we want to simulate how real life working together would look like. This can give enough signals to both of us to evaluate if this is a relationship we want to commit to :)

Final Round: Present your project & Offer (45 mins + 45 mins)

In this round you present your project to us. Here, we are mostly interested in the approach you took to solve the problems you faced, any deep insights you learnt etc. Typically at the end of the presentation, we will make a decision or in some scenarios decide within 24 hrs and update you.

If we make an offer, we will discuss the compensation, equity and benefits at length with you during the call. Our offer conversations are longer than most other companies. That's because if you've made it this far, we're excited about working together, and we want to spend as long as it takes on anything you'd like to discuss.
