Volta Labs is seeking an experienced software engineer to help build our cloud platform. You will play a key role in building out our data-pipelines and a web platform that compliments our benchtop instrument.

Job Responsibilities

• Work across the stack to deliver end to end solutions and features for both external users and internal R&D teams
• Engineer and automate our cloud environments for security, reliability, and scale
• Design and build solutions utilizing modern monitoring, logging, and metrics tools to assist with instrument observation, upkeep, and analysis.  
• Design and optimize robust CI/CD pipelines for cloud apps, workflows, and data pipelines
• Work with engineers and scientists and lead projects to expand upon existing functionality and implement new features.
• Develop and maintain clear and effective software documentation.

Your Qualifications

• M.S or B.S. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years a professional & collaborative software development role (ideally experience in a hardware/robotics/biotech oriented environment).
• Extensive experience with languages and technologies including Python, Javascript, and React, as well as relational databases
• Extensive working knowledge of modern cloud technologies and platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP, Docker, etc.)
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced team environment with rapidly changing priorities: proactive team player who thinks ahead, plans, and suggests solutions.
• You are a continuous learner who embraces a growth mindset.
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to synthesize technical information and present it to specialists and non-specialists.

Nice to Have

• Familiarity with laboratory data management technologies (LIMS, ELN)
• Familiarity with emerging technologies, frameworks, and trends in image processing, computer vision, and machine learning

Despite these advancements, preparing samples for sequencing remains a bottleneck. Today’s scientists are held back by existing solutions for sample preparation. We believe that disruptive innovations are needed in sample prep technologies to unlock the true utility of genomics.
