Gordian is building the operating system for the airline industry and taking the friction out of travel. We started on an unsolved problem: empower travel sites to upsell seat selection, baggage and other upgrades. We’ve signed huge customers like Priceline, Hopper and Trip.com to our unique API.

The Head of Talent Acquisition will grow Gordian 4x in 2022 by building and lead a world class startup recruiting team.  You will define and and manage our approach to talent - partners, channels, capacity, staffing, and spend - while advancing our culture and environment by upholding our hiring standards.  To succeed, you will create innovative and streamlined processes to reduce friction in an accelerated recruiting workflow and act as a strategic advisor to hiring managers, sharing market trends, insights and managing expectations.  Most of all, you will promote our values and our employer brand to candidates and the talent team by acting with Freedom, Impact and Ownership.



  • 2+ years of high-paced high bar talent acquisition leadership experience - you’ve managed teams of recruiters in a high pace environment covering multiple role types and domains

  • A love of finding great people and fitting them into a great culture - you love carrying a few requisitions on your own desk

  • Professionalism, energy, and excellent cross-functional communication skills - you know how to tailor your approach to different audiences

  • Track record of scaling teams rapidly

  • Passion for solving complex problems

  • Track record of managing the full recruiting cycle, ideally at an early or growth stage startup: sourcing, managing pipelines, and closing candidates

  • Data-driven problem-solving capabilities - you glean insights via recruiting metrics

  • Motivated by a fast-paced, high impact environment

  • Proactive and comfortable operating amidst ambiguity

  • Clear communicator with a bias to collaborate

Our core services are built in Python, Flask, Postgres, with Redis on the backend and React on the front end. We have some services in Node, Express, Vue, and MongoDB. We deploy on Heroku, Netlify, and AWS. Some interesting problems we're solving:

  • Tracking millions of dollars of complex financial flows between travel companies and airlines
  • Scalability - our monthly growth rates require us to continually think and make technology decisions against an ever increasing number of users, partners, and API requests
  • Expanding the number of products we offer, building in-house ancillary products from end to end
  • Anomaly detection across airline/travel website pairs. Many times we tell airlines they are down before they know
  • Data modeling to provide a simple, clean API format across 140 airlines' different product sets.
