Canix (YC S'19) is building the first generation of modern ERP software for the burgeoning cannabis industry. We help our customers overcome daunting compliance regulation, sell more product, cut costs, and optimize their day to day operations from seed to sale.

The role

We believe the people at Canix are our biggest asset and competitive advantage. We need a seasoned leader to help us find, hire, develop, motivate, and retain the people that make this company great. You will act as a champion for the company values and culture, and help us all be and do better.


  • Own the entire recruiting process across sales, engineering, support, and product. Manage everything from funnel/interview definition, to sourcing and interviewing, to closing and onboarding. Help hiring managers define expectations for, and hire, exceptional talent.
  • Onboarding all new employees at the company, defining 30/60/90 day expectations and product ramp-up strategy.
  • Defining compensation bands, and managing our performance evaluation and promotion cycles. Working with managers to establish career paths and goals for their team.
  • Plan events, and promote a healthy, connected culture. Everything from birthdays and happy hours, to our twice-a-year offsites (+ swag!).
  • Develop a world-class remote-first, hybrid organization. Manage remote/home offices, plus any satellite offices we open in the future.

You might be a great fit if you:

  • Have experience sourcing and interviewing for both Engineering and G&A roles.
  • Have 5 years of HR business partner or generalist experience working in a fast paced (eg startup) environment.
  • Are experienced in leading a People Operations or Human Resources team.
  • Are an excellent orator and communicator, able to craft and maintain a powerful and approachable internal wiki, and inspire others in a presentation setting.
  • Are data-driven, and actively avoid making 'gut' decisions. You can reason from first principles and accurately describe the 'why'.
