Director of Growth Marketing
Tovala makes home-cooked meals effortless.We are a Chicago-based food-tech company that sells a smart, countertop steam oven that is paired with a weekly meal delivery service. We manufacture our hardware in south-east Asia and sell direct to consumer. Our food is produced in our own facility here in Chicago under the careful guidance of our Chefs. Meals are shipped to customers everywhere in the lower 48 states every week.

Director of Growth Marketing The Director of Growth Marketing will manage all of Tovala’s paid marketing across online and offline channels. The role is responsible for both the execution and optimization of current direct response and brand awareness channels (instagram, facebook, SEM and pinterest) and expanding Tovala’s marketing ecosystem into new channels (e.g. YouTube, display, connected TV, radio/podcasts, direct mail, native etc.) in order to expand reach and drive efficiencies. The ideal candidate will drive strategy, spend allocation across channels, experimentation on new channels and optimize growth marketing efforts for customer acquisition goals. How you’ll spend your time at Tovala: Set full-funnel, paid media strategy to support growth goals Oversee day to day spend and execution across current paid media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest & SEM) with the focus on meeting sales and customer acquisition cost goals Lead strategic channel expansion through robust experimentation in new channels (YouTube, podcasts/radio, direct mail, connected TV, display etc.) leveraging customer insights, A/B testing and overall communication strategy across the funnel Take a strategic approach to channel optimization to meet ROI and growth goals. Actively strategize, investigate and execute hypotheses in each channel to drive performance including audiences, bid strategies, creative and landing pages Work very closely with Marketing Analytics, Growth PM and Growth Engineering to find insights that drive a targeted approach to acquisition and to help improve overall growth and CAC through ongoing tracking, analysis, experiments, measurement & iteration Collaborate with the brand marketing and in-house creative team to ensure we deliver consistent and resonant messaging across all performance channels Partner with our Tech team to implement new marketing / ad technologies that can improve attribution, drive efficiencies and build models that predict key metrics Set growth team resourcing strategy as we scale - further building out a team of channel experts and/or outside agency partners to effectively manage & scale our paid media efforts to support our rapid growth
About you You are highly analytical and love data. You have a proven track record of high performance and impact, are capable of diving into data and synthesizing coherent and actionable recommendations to elevate performance against our KPIs. You are passionate about the evolving media ecosystem, highly motivated with a huge thirst for learning and continuous experimentation You have a deep understanding of frameworks for building lead generation, demand modeling, multi-touch attribution and analytics You are a highly organized “doer” with a data-driven mentality You love food, whether that means cooking it, eating it, frequently pressing your nose against deli windows, or lusting after soft-serve on Instagram. Bachelor’s degree from a university, business or engineering school, ideally in Marketing, Business, Management, Economics, Data Analysis, Computer Science or related fields with a strong academic record At least 5 years of work experience in online advertising with a strong focus on performance marketing. 3+ years of hands-on work experience in Paid Social Marketing is strongly preferred You know Facebook Ads Manager inside out and are comfortable using analytics tools such as Google Analytics, Google Optimize and Mixpanel. Experience with other BI Tools is a strong advantage High proficiency in Excel is necessary. Intermediate to advanced proficiency with SQL is a strong plus Experience managing outside agencies is a strong plus Experience managing people / leading teams is a strong plus Strong writing and communication skills with concise presentation of data
