The Production Manager (PM) at Move will be responsible for ensuring that our shipments consistently reach our members.
That comes with three major responsibilities: Running Move's distribution center in San Francisco We will use this distribution center to ship to members all over the West Coast.
As the head of our production space, the PM will be measured on their ability to get orders out in an accurate and timely way. As a result, the PM will be in charge of the following: — Forecasting, ordering and receiving inventory. — Recruiting and managing team members to pick orders. — Working with shipping partners to ensure timely pickup and delivery of our packages. — Ensuring a clean and well-organized production space.
Training and managing 3PL partners around the country The PM will fly to meet with 3PLs on the East Coast and the Midwest and train them on how to pick orders for Move.
The PM will also spend "opening weeks" on location with the new 3PLs — supervising their first week of shipping orders for Move.
On an ongoing basis, the PM will review daily reports from the 3PLs and study customer feedback to find issues. Often, fixing these issues will require getting on the phone or visiting the 3PLs and making changes to their processes.
Establishing new Move-owned distribution centers. Over time, we'll move away from the 3PL model into owning our own distribution. The PM will be involved with and in charge of every step in that project: finding the ideal zipcodes and spaces, supervising the buildout, hiring a new team, moving in inventory etc.
