PicnicHealth is all about making medical records easy to access and using data to power the next frontier of medical research. We work directly with patients to give them the only tool anywhere that truly provides all of their medical records from any doctor or healthcare system in the US—in an easy-to-use, secure online dashboard. Not only that, but patients can choose to contribute their incredibly important data to scientific research, which helps researchers accelerate breakthroughs in care. We’re currently 55 people based in the Mission District of SF, just raised our Series B, and continuing to grow!
Healthcare needs good data. At PicnicHealth, we are building the world’s highest quality medical datasets - fueling cutting edge research while giving patients control of their health record. These comprehensive, patient-centric, real-world datasets produce unique insights - across multiple therapeutic areas - not available from any other source. We do this by working directly with patients and leveraging state of the art machine learning techniques to transform their messy medical records into structured, accurate, and useful data. Patients then access their data through an easy-to-use, secure online dashboard and choose to participate in, and benefit from, research on their condition along with other PicnicHealth users.
To date, we’ve helped tens of thousands of patients, partnered with some of the world’s largest life science companies (including 10 of the Top 30), and raised more than $35M including from Felicis Ventures, Amplify Partners, and Y Combinator.
And we are just getting started! If you are looking to join a mission-driven, motivated team that is making a real impact across millions of people’s lives, PicnicHealth might just be the place for you.
Most engineers at Picnic are full-stack engineers. On our team, you’d own features end-to-end, from planning out and structuring data models to designing and building front-end interfaces. You’ll need to be able to think independently and operate with a high degree of autonomy, taking problems that may be poorly specified and finding the best solution. We have challenges ranging from creating new ways to visualize medical information to implementing data pipelines to improving application performance. You’ll need to be able to fearlessly tackle any challenge that gets thrown at you.

At PicnicHealth you get to solve real problems with real solutions, great tech, and great people. We offer a hybrid set up for our team: team members in the Bay Area can work from the SF office on a flexible schedule; remote team members are expected to travel to in-person meetings 4-6 times a year.
You also get:

We're fixing the interoperability problem in healthcare from the bottom up, giving any patient their entire medical history and making sure it's useful. We're doing the necessary dirty work (dealing with paper records, using nurses to label concepts embedded in doctor's notes, etc.). PicnicHealth has already literally saved many of our users' lives; help us save more.
